Melee Lock On question

#1 Posted by Artof_War (116 posts) -

Do any of you use the melee lock on, L2 on PS3? The combat is difficult at first, but satisfyingly so. However I can't gel lock on to feel (flicking R2 to switch etc.), but I like the fighting stance it gives you. Any tips are appreciated.

Take out the weaker enemies to thin their numbers, then use lock on. That's my strategy.

I forgot about it.

No, really, I restarted the game a few weeks ago. It went through the tutorial and then introduced me to the lock on. "What?", I exclaimed, "when did this game get a lock on system?"

It really is not necessary.

I used it only when you eventually get the ability to roll over someone's body to kick them from behind but even with that i never kept it on all the time since it never really made a difference to me winning or losing.

I only use it to see a tough enemy's health, like in the Zodiac Tournament DLC.

Only use lock-on when you want to use a specific move on a specific target for a good reason. Other than that, you can get by never using it.

Used it a few times when I got it but after that I pretty much didn't use it again.

The only reason I can see for using the lock on is that sweet rising elbow move.

I haven't been using it at all.

I've been playing it for the last couple of days, I haven't used it outside of the tutorial, it's not really needed as you can win almost every single fight in exactly the same way.

It seems to mess with the combos for me so I don't use it. Seemed like when I locked on he would just do these short jabs and kicks instead of the full combos - maybe I was doing something wrong. Either way as many have said, I didn't find it at all necessary to finish the game or the Halloween DLC which is basically all fighting.

I never used the lock on.

I completely forgot which button even locks on. My strategy usually just consists of breaking legs and throwing the weaker dudes into environmental kills. Not much locking on needed for that.

I literally never used a lock on in the whole game so I don't know. The game had a fair bit of auto-targeting as it were so I had no need for it.

I got the game for christmas and have been playing a fair amount, and in my experience I felt like in less control of Wei's actions when using it. Besides the health do show up under the enemies without locking on, so I don't even use it for that.

I only use it to do the elbow move and I do the elbow move quite often. I don't actually lock on and engage in combat with it.

I played on PC, but I never used it. I would press the button in conjunction with other buttons to get the special commands when I needed them, but otherwise I would just use free-targeting.

The only times I ever used it were to use the few special moves that required it; otherwise I never used it.

Thanks for your help! Looks like going forward I'll avoid it. I just really like the fighting stance it gives you. Good on them for punishing button mashing.

I only used it for the Elbow Drop.

I forgot it was there to be honest.

I just used the left trigger to zoom in outside of combat. Never messed with the lock-on system.

I played on 360, but I was pretty sure you lock on, then use the right stick to swap between enemies? I always locked on, but it doesn't really matter who you're going after. They will all get their asses beat.

Im using it quite alot as I have a problem with when trying to move between enemys the character exiting the fighting stance and just going into a run/walk which is breaking my combos.

I used it a couple times, but never for anything important, just when I remembered it.
