Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus Review (Playstation 2)

If I could describe this game in one word it would be "Fun" Sometimes a game doesn't have to do absolutely everything right. Sometimes it just has to do a couple of great things to be a great game. Sly Cooper is not a perfect game, just a fun one. But it doesn't need to be perfect. Sly Cooper is not an amazing game, it's not a masterpiece, it's a simple good game. You play the game as Sly Cooper. Sly is a raccoon who is master of all thieves. When Sly was a child the Fiendish Five stole the Thievius Raccoonus and killed his family. The Thievius Raccoonus is a book with all his ancestors special abilities, a priceless item to the Cooper family. His best friends are Murray and Bentley who help him along the way to finding all the pieces of the Thievius Raccoonus. You go through each of the 5 levels sneaking your way through a couple of missions. When you beat each mission you will get a key. Moving to the next part of the levels requires you to beat all the missions and get every key. When you get all the keys you move on to the next part of the level. You need to complete the missions, get the keys and then move on to the boss. Sly Cooper is simply a great game but it is not perfect. It is a good set up for the true masterpiece Sly 2: Band of Thieves. So if your looking for a very fun, quick game then definitely give Sly Cooper a try.

The story goes as follows: When Sly was a young lad, a group of people calling themselves the Fiendish Five broke into his house, killed his family and stole the Thievius Raccoonus, the Cooper Clan's tome of thieving. After that, Sly is ...

As someone who finds most stealth sections and/or elements of videogames to be poorly designed, tacked-on atrocities, I was a little wary of  Sly Cooper and The Thievius Raccoonus. But, at the same, I was intrigued by its concept of blending platforming and stealth into one. A concept that, surprisingly, comes together beautifully in its execution, by delivering simple, fluid platforming, and stealth mechanics that don't rely upon old trial-and-error formula. The game puts you in the roll of Sl...
