In Mortal Kombat mythology, Outworld is one of the 6 realms that made up all that there was. The various rulers and powers of Outworld are constantly trying to take over Earthrealm by defeating it's Champion(s).
The Pit is one of the more iconic locations in the Mortal Kombat series, where combatants fight on a tall ledge and the loser can be knocked off to their doom.
The Netherrealm is hell in the Mortal Kombat universe.
The Living Forest is an arena in the Mortal Kombat universe. It first appeared in MK 2, and then later in MK: Deception as a 3D battle stage.
Originally appearing in Mortal Kombat 3, the Bell Tower features a weak wooden floor that makes for a gruesome stage fatality.
First appearing in Mortal Kombat II, the emperor watches the tournament from his throne, flanked by his prisoners.
First appearing in Mortal Kombat II, the Dead Pool features a stage fatality that involves uppercutting the victim off of the catwalk and into the pool of acid.
First appearing in Mortal Kombat 3, the Subway offered, for those that resisted uppercutting, a chance to fling their opponent in front of a train to finish them. The MK: Armageddon version of the arena added trains running along both walls.
First appearing Mortal Kombat, the Court Yard is a preferred arena for Shang Tsung to witness the Tournament's frequent fights to the death. This stage made its 3D appearance in Mortal Kombat: Deception.
Originally appearing in Mortal Kombat II, the Wastelands of Outworld are a bleak and ruined landscape where it is forever night. The Wastelands arena returned in MK: Armageddon and featured Death-by-Catapult as a stage fatality.
