O wow... i was sort of hoping for this game to be fun.

Wasn't Sonic and the Secret Rings okay? I would have thought this one would be decent as well.

Also, Sonic games now a days tend to get mix reaction. Just look at Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, some people love it, and some people hate.

Eh, I'm gonna wait for a few more reviews (Nintendo Power gave it an 8 and someone else recently made a thread with another 8 review from somewhere).

Matt seems like he was having a drunk fit to me and some of the complaints contradict what he wants. We want Sonic speedy and doing little other than running and jumping, yet we criticise the combat as a quick shake used to dispatch enemies while you speed through, because it's not realistic sword fighting with proper gestures?

That said, it might very well be a deserving score. I just can't believe (just yet) that they would do this much worse than even Secret Rings which got a 6.9 from Matt, and the videos look like the game IS about what Sonic is about (speed), and not at all dissimilar to Secret Rings or Unleashed's day missions. It's quite baffling to read that it's not how it appears in the least.

Still, mind blown, never saw this coming. Cry.

I suppose adherence to one's beliefs is something to be admired, but this is just ridiculous.

This is somewhat surprising because I remember IGN giving Sonic and the Secret Rings a decent score. I expected this one to be bad, but it must really suck.

Does the gaming community need to unite and go hedgehog hunting? You know, stop this problem ourselves, like we did with those 3D Pac-man games.

Also, oh how a reviewer's credibility instantly increases when one agrees (without having the game). Matt scored Secret Rings nicely enough, yet almost nobody here admits it was a good game when someone discusses Sonic as having potential because "recent games have been good" but the moment Sonic is rated horribly by the same reviewer, everyone believes it 100% no questioned asked... Just an observation irrelevant to the game at hand and its quality mind you :)

I obviously haven't played this game, and in all reality it probably is pretty bad.  But Sonic games really aren't given much of a fair shake these days either.  All Matt talks about is how it isn't like the old Sonic.  Who cares?  Review it based on its own merits, not based on your notions of what a Sonic game should be. 

Well at the very least, they'll hopefully use the rendering engine for a different non-Sonic game I suppose >_>

Famitsu gave 7,6,7,6. But I don't know how they rated previous Sonic titles for comparison.

Ha! That's really funny. Earlier today, someone posted a different review of the game from somewhere else and those guys had plenty of good things to say about it. This score is more along the lines of what I originally expected. I thought it seemed like a really dumb idea for a Sonic game and can't believe they were putting another one out so quickly.

Quickness has nothing to do with it, it wasn't the Unleashed team, rather the Secret Rings team.

Damnit, when will Sega learn? Did they not notice everyone's joy when the first footage of Unleashed was released? But no, they had to screw that over with the werehog(which doesn't even make sense given the word's origin) thing and then screw this over even harder.
