i'm going to keep assuming that everything made after Sonic 2 is disappointing at best.

Secret Rings was ace, though perhaps a little too fiddly until you figured it out and got leveled up proper. The Black Knight's main offense was its weird attack timing and mapping that to waggle, but otherwise an alright game unless you feel the need to get bent out of shape because there's a sword in there.
 
Sonic Unleashed's Sonic bits essentially build on the Secret Rings template and were also perfectly fine. You'll always get people who haven't actually touched any of these games - sometimes not even the brill-for-the-time Sonic Adventure 1 - condemning everything 3D with Sonic, but if you aren't one of those people then this has a fairly good chance of being a neat little game.

It seems to me that it will be a music or rhythm-based game. That would be sad.

I'd say any "goodwill" generated by Sonic 4 has yet to come to fruition. Its more like... the seed of potential fruition.

Announced: Sonic games are still going to be made. And will probably sell. And most likely will stink.
 
Oh, and that sign should say "You are winner!" It would be way better.

I predict this game to have a score of 60 or less on Metacritic.

yes, because much better level design where it doesn't take less than 45 seconds to complete an act really is a step backwards. the best music of the series really contributes to sonic 3 and sonic and knuckles being worse than sonic 2, too.

i haven't really had much faith in sonic team since sonic heroes, and it's probably likely that sonic colours won't be so great, but i still hope that they are able to make a good game.

Don't give Sonic another chance, don't buy it.

I'll pass, and let the reviews do the deciding for me.  I may be a retro sonic fan, but im yet to see a good game since 2003.
