At least you'll be able to kick Silver's ass instead of being forced to play as him!

...but it would be better if he didn't appear at all.

    Ugh.

Believe it or not, I don't really have a problem with that. This game is supposed to be a tribute to all eras of Sonic, and I'm sure there are some people out there who care about the new stuff. Even I liked Sonic Adventure 2 at the time, so I think it will be cool to see Shadow in the game just so long as they tone down the ridiculous gun-play and "dark and edgy" elements they tried to introduce in later games.

This is excellent news! Sonic 3 & Knuckles is my personal favorite Sonic game, and the elemental shields were a part of what made it so great!

I look forward more to the music in Sonic games then the game itself.

    Shame.

@FreakAche: You're obviously right, but I just can't get behind it. Shadow and the cult surrounding him is everything that is wrong with those goddamn titles from that era, and Silver--like everything attached to Sonic 2k6--should be put in the warehouse from the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark if you get my drift.

@iAmJohn: Yeah, I get what your saying, Shadow fans are a little weird.

Also, has Silver showed up much in anything since Sonic '06? I remember he was in those PSP racing games that I never played, but I can't think of anything else.

Shadow hasn't actually used guns since his game. But since the script writers from Sonic Colors are returning, maybe his boss battle would poke fun at that dorky game by having him ride a motorcycle around and shoot at Sonic with an Uzi while bragging about how cool he is.
In fact, I'm almost expecting them to do something like that.

Technically Sonic 2k6 never happened. Cue the jokes in the game about Sonic not knowing who the hell Silver is.

I liked Colours just fine, good direction for the series to go in, but this didn't seem like that good of an idea from the beginning. I tried the demo and it was pretty meh in the way that some of those older Sonic games are definetly meh, atrocious framerate didn't help it either though that might just be the PS3 version, or subject to change.

If it against all odds is ok I might pick it up, but for now it's wait and see as usual.

    The music is cool though.

@FreakAche: It had a mixture of cringe-worthy material and some actually refreshing self-awareness if I recall. Not too great, but not all that bad either.

Pretty much. They had a bad way of dragging on some jokes way too long, but it was actually funny at some points. They need to keep portraying Sonic as a kinda crazy 90s caricature, it worked pretty well.

28 minutes of gameplay, including them showing the hub worlds, Metal Sonic boss battle, and a couple levels. This might get taken down soon because this is the second upload I've seen of it.

I may as well keep updating this topic with the latest, instead of making a bunch of others.

Dreamcast Era Trailer, showing off Speed Highway, Seaside Hill, City Escape, and a super secret mystery character reveal.

Modern Era Trailer, featuring Planet Wisp, Crisis City, and Rooftop Run. Seems like Wisp power-ups from Colors are returning, but only for Planet Wisp. Interesting. And there's another secret boss reveal at the end of the trailer. Even more interesting!

Hey, there's a new demo on Xbox Live and Playstation Network. It's still Green Hill Zone, but now it has Modern Sonic and revamped physics for Classic Sonic. Also, this one won't expire...allegedly.

@Azteck: if they're FUN sonic games, which this definitely will be (for me at least) if the demo is any indication, I see no problem.

Checked out the new demo. To be honest they nailed the sense of speed with the modern stuff. The controls seem a little tighter, then again the last one I played was Sonic Adventure 2.

I know Sega are trying to trick me with the whole Green Hill Zone deal, and it's kinda working. If anything I am more interested in it than I was with Sonic 4.

This game looks like it could be pretty fun to me. I have not really liked a Sonic game that I have played since Sonic Adventure when I first bought my Dreamcast, but I might have to get this one.

I am genuinely excited to play this game all in 2D as classic Sonic.

Modern Sonic can go die in hell.
