Damn, this reminds me on Act 2 of the Carnival Night Zone. It took me 2 month to figure out how to get past this barrel :D

I hated that part of the level.

Took me many years to finish the game. I haven't finished it yet actually since I am playing it with Knuckles, making the game twice as long.

Yeah, that brings back memories. Cold, bitter memories.

Press up and down while standing on the barrel. I won't forget that anytime soon.

Two months? It took me SO much longer . . . . God, the wasted hours . . . . And we just had to push the fucking D-pad . . . bastards . . .

I actually rang up a cheats and tips hotline to find this out. One and only time I ever did that.. It was way before the Internet for me!

That part took me like a minute to figure out back in '94.

I was replaying it yesterday and completely forgot about it. I was Super Sonic and wasted all of my rings trying to get past it. I felt like such an idiot when I finally remembered. I think it only took me a minute or two when it first came out, too...

@harajukulandon: Up and down worked for me on DS. Some barrels just require jumping on them if I recall correctly. Maybe you're at one of those?
