Happy Birthday Sonic!?

Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the world's most famous video game characters and the mascot of Sega Enterprises Ltd. Sonic was introduced on June 23 1991 with the launch of Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Genesis. His super speed makes him one of the fastest fictional characters.

Sega's mascot, the fastest hedgehog in the East and West, has turned 18 today in Europe and North America. In Europe this makes him entirely legal to guzzle down booze and play with spiky bush.

On June 23rd 1991, Sonic hit the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis, where he sped onto a wave of success as a anti hero to the great Mario of Nintendo fame. Since November 2007, the first game has sold over 4 million copies worldwide with the entire franchise selling over 50 million as of late last year.

Birthdays are a great time to take stock of your life, to see how everything has panned out, I wonder what the spiky one must be thinking today on his Birthday.

we are married so i said happy birthday to him when we woke up
i gave him a limited edition poster of himself from ebay for his present and he said i could keep it

I feel like I've been repeatedly raped by Sonic Team, so I am all for a new game in the classic style. At the very least SEGA should make HD versions of the games available, as part of a HD collection, or as individual games via DLC

Has anyone got any cool Sonic the Hedgehog related stuff already?

This is one item of note, released on his 10th Birthday in Japan for supposedly 2 days only on 2001/6/ 23-24.
