The have burned me so many goddamn times but jeez does this not excite me for some reason...
Sonic the Hedgehog
The Sonic series features the platforming legend and Sega's mascot, Sonic The Hedgehog, and spans countless titles both 2D and 3D featuring a variety of gameplay styles, as well as spinoff titles including racers, pinball, fighters, and even a party game.
New Sonic game....how does Sega keep maiing me excited for this?!
I still like Sonic and think Colours is a pretty amazing game but I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would get excited over that boring trailer.
also if theres ever a game thats got "Robotnik" they can just have my money.... I'm amn't even a sonic fanboy ironically, last sonic game I actually bought was Sonic Mega Collection on PS2... I usually know better but this... has my interest peaked.
The last Sonic game I bought was Heroes. I played 4's demo, but it just didn't feel right. Colours looked pretty cool though, and the old school Sonic render in that video has got me interested, at least. But the days when Sega would announce 'New sonic game!' and I buy it no matter what, died with the Dreamcast.
Very hard to be excited for another Sonic game after the crushing disappointment of the last few, especially Sonic 4 which came close to greatness but was utterly ruined by the physics and general incompetence of the developers.
" So the gimmick of this Sonic game is that there are two Sonics? Why is this exciting?Further, why is it taking them so long to make Episode 2 of Sonic the Hedgehog 4? "1. It's classic Sonic. From when Sonic was actually cool and didn't just look like a douchebag who wants to be cool.
Co-op?
Sonic 4 and now this game (or at least the teaser) are using the Green Hill Zone aesthetic (grass with brown dirt blocks underneath) to try to manipulate fans with nostalgia so that we say "HEY SONIC 1!" and we get excited. I don't like that. Imagine if every Mario game had World 1-1 so that fans would be manipulated in to being all nostalgic rather than Nintendo allowing fans to experience something new.
" Why does Sega think every Sonic game needs a gimmick? Give me my Genesis era Sonic without the wonky feel of Sonic 4. "it
Well I must say, that definitely got me by surprise. I was ready to be unimpressed. Not to say I was incredibly impressed, mind you.
But right when I was ready to say the trailer was showing nothing special, still the same old "new age" Sonic running, classic Sonic comes in. Just when I thought Sega was never going to acknowledge that change in design.
While I'm not "excited", I am at least interested. You have my attention, Sega.
