Sonic In Progressive commercials?

Does anyone know why this exists? This seems like the weirdest ad ever, and who is this aimed towards? Why is Sega doing this?

Sonic looks confused too in that picture.

This has been out for over a week now dude, it comes out on cartoon network all the time. It comes out on kids channels so that children can tell there parents to get the sonic insurance.

I don't know if you know that progressive also released a ton of free progressive themed dlc for modnation racers a while back too.

They're marketing is all over the place, you have to respect them for reaching out to different audiences.

Because one thing kids love to make their parents buy is Insurance.

There are just so many things about this ad that confuse me. Why Sonic? Is it 1994 again? Is that why he doesn't speak at all? And why Sonic? He doesn't drive, so how is he relevant to a car insurance commercial? ANd why Sonic? What age bracket is young enough to identify with Sonic, but old enough to be worried about car insurance? Also, WHY SONIC!?

I thought Jeff was joking when he said that Sonic belonged in insurance commercials.

My little sister would buy a gun if it had Sonic in it.

@DarthOrange:

Two Sonic Drift games weren't enough?

So I take it she hasn't seen the Shadow PS2 game, or does she only like sonic?

My little brother is the same way, Sonic just has a way of attracting children, they will always find him cool.

Yeah, it was. I was really surprised, I hope they make another one.

@ImmortalSaiyan: Are you guys talking about Sonic R? If you are, I'd recommend never playing it again because your fond memories will be destroyed.

#15 Posted by ImmortalSaiyan (4676 posts) -

@MaxxS: Nope. Sonic and Sega all star racing; it's a Mario Kart style racing game.

@ImmortalSaiyan: Okay good. I was worried that this place was going crazy.

She never saw the Shadow game. I bet she would love that game. I mean, she loved that Sonic and The Black Knight game.

I was honestly gaining some respect for Sonic lately. Not a lot of it but more than I have had sine I was 7.

What a dumb move for Progressive. I think Mario and his gang needs auto insurance a lot worse than Sonic.

This is a fucking weird cameo. Who is this for?

#21 Posted by MikkaQ (10277 posts) -

This is gonna get really weird when all the kids raised with Halo or even COD are 30 and are being sold insurance by Master Chief or Captain Price.

Not that it hasn't already got really weird but you know... weirder.

I can't wait to hear Captain Price yell "GET YOUR INSURANCE OSCAR MIKE!!!"

This would make sense if this commercial came out in November around the release of Sonic Generations in promotion for that game.

Ah fuck it, EVERYBODY SUPER SONIC SAVING!
