For anyone that has Sonic Unleashed my question is this: is it really as bad as the Gamespot review ("There is no fun to be had") suggests?

From what i saw from youtube videos it just looked like the sonic stages were good and the werehog stages were not as good

It's GameSpot. It's probably quite fun.

My brother (he's 10) had been playing it, and completed it the other day. The night time levels looked pretty bad, but for what it's worth, the day time ones actually looked pretty entertaining.

I don't know what to think anymore.

So Sonic for 360 has more Sonic levels, but it's worse than Sonic for Wii. So Sonic Wii has better levels? But there's less of them. And all the Warehog sections are horrible.

I'll wait for Black Knight.

Sonic judgement is too difficult to gauge these days. Fans of the originals will say anything to make you think the new games are worth anything and that seems to be the case with reviewers as well, not just civilian forum posters.

I played a little on the Wii. It's not bad, but it's not good. The normal Sonic parts are fun, but the Werehog are so boring... the only thing that compels you to finish them is thinking "maybe next stage I'll be able to play with regular Sonic again". It's not 3.5 material, but it's not anything special. I don't recomend it.

The werehog levels take so long and they become boring and a lame addition to add more length to the game.

I have no doubt that Sonic Unleashed is not a good game, but 3.5 is a little excessive.

I don't think its THAT bad. Lately GS has been very harsh on rating games lately they gave good games pretty low scores. I don't trust them anymore.

i would like to commend the one and only sole true sonic fan who is a developer at sega who decided to build the daytime parts, because that shit (although still a bit mediocre) is awesome and a step in the right direction. all the other assholes at sega who made the piss pore attempt at a sonic "teen wolf"/god of war game and these ridiculous suck ass cut scenes need to be fired. they are probably the same dudes who have ruined my childhood memories of sonic like 8 fucking times now. 

People say it's actually alright, daytime levels resemble Sonic Adventure, which I fucking loved.

This is why GB has a 5 star rating instead. Because if GB reviewed it it probably would be a 2 or 3 star game. Now a 3.4 converted to stars = 2 stars, which I wouldn't be surprised. The game overall is bad, the number you put next to it means nothing.

Most sonic games are terrible. I expected no less.

i rented it out.

The first free running level was great. The 50 minutes after that trying to get to the next free running area = fail.

I couldnt do it.

Gamespot SUCKS ass at reviewing. They gave LostWinds at 5.5 when it for sure deserved at least an 8.0 rating considering that it was a WiiWare game that happened to have more in it then a retail game. Gamespot sucks.

I would not  trust Gamespot even if my life depended on it.

I have the Wii version. I give it a 5/10, its a good game...when your playing as Sonic, infact, It's an AMAZING game when playing as Sonic, but when your playing as the Werehog it sucks, and your playing as the Werehog more than the Hedgehog, so 5/10 it is.

Gamespot was the only one bitching so much about the game so far. It is ridiculous, how could this game have a worst score than Sonic the Hedgehog (PS3, X360) on GS and yet have a way higher metascore?! WTF VanOrd? They are damaging the metascore/gamerankings average, it is a 6.5 or a 7.0, not a 3.5.
