    Sonics final fall... I hope

What a fantastic ride sonic the hedgehog has been on over the years, from the unbelievably stunning sonic adventure 2 battle defining 3 dimensional platformers to the contraversial sonic heroes (best on gamecube) and the good old mega drive classics, but what happens when you take away the colour, the charm, the cheesy 80's rock music, the silliness, the amussing american voice acting, and all the solid controlls which where only perfected in adventure 2, well you get sonic unleashed PS2,

The first thing you may notice about the game is the dramatic change in music, the music is very "comon" and average, what you'd expect form any old platformer and lacks the silly charm of the older sonic with their cheesy 80's pop'n'rock. The music is quite decent in day stages possibly the odd tune being good but at night time, ohhh no. Thats another thing, you would expect a lot of day stages to get you excited, well for every 3 minute day stage, theres 20 minutes of night stage, yes that is no joke it drives you potty.

The fighting sequenses are like a durastic attempt from sonic team to show that the treasure hunting levels in adventure 2 were superb as they really are that bad. The controlls are bog standard I can recite the exact controlls for just about every level, square, square, square, r1, square, square, square... um r1.... oh you get the idea very dull and repedative.

This game is a classic example of a pollished turd, only in this case they probably ate that waste and re-excreted it just for the fun of it, wheres the charm? Oh and thats another thing the "genuses" at sonic team decided that the controlls were so awefull in previous 3d sonic games mosty adventure dx that it would be a fantastic idea to.... make them worse, so now to turn you press r or l not left or right... at high speeds that is oh and like heroes the classic spin ball is still non-existant.

Infact the only good thing about the game is it is easy and re-doing levels is a rare sight so you can play through it, hate it but not feel that you wasted a weekend, you'd have wasted 3 hours completing the game unless you are prone to fact that 50% of the actions you press won't register and half the time it does the exact opposite of what you wan't.

The game even tries to stress you out to an unblelievable level, why well theres a werehog boss which is a temple guardian and you climb stuff and throw stuff in the battle, BUT if you think for one second the camera or r1 button are going to keep working you'd be horribly mistaken.

This game is almost worth getting just to see how bad games really get BUT by no means discard of sega and sonic team as this is one small hitch Im sure. Sonic the hedgehog games are outstanding to the eigth degree and sonic team listened to the critisisms, annoying 80's music, annoying voice acting, slow, poor camera, and they fixed these problems but I have to say Im almost sad the camera now works and that the 80's metal "live and learn" should surely return from adventure 2 battle and the speed needn't be fast as this just as long as it looks sleek and is fun to play. Ultimately it is those who critisises sonic minor flaws who have made this game what it is today and it is a real shame to see sonic go further downhill against mario I censerly hope that sonic team revisit the adventure 2 and take everything from that amazing game and incoorperate it into a new game.

So all in all this game really is as bad as it gets there are the odd moments worth playing in the day stages but that is it if you have a wii or gamecube hunt out sonic adventure 2 battle to play a more satisfying adventure, if a little dated.

    Final Score - 19%
    Maximum price you should pay - £0.30 / $.0.35

...thank you for youre time and any coments are most welcome, negative or possitve.

A worthwhile Title in the Sonic Library 0

From my point of view, Sonic Unleashed is essentially 2 different Sonic games put together. Game 1 would be known as the daytime missions, and Game 2 is the night missions. They of course are presented as only 1game as the storyline progresses, but the game-play itself, well, as the box says, is different as night and day. In the Day missions you're regular ol' Sonic, running and jumping. We know it, we love it. In the Night missions you're the newly introduced WereHog version of Sonic. Less ru...
