I get the feeling I've done this before.... 0

Soulcalibur 4 is a good game for the facts that it's pretty, you can customize characters, you can play as darth vader(brain explosion), and you can play online but other than that all other elements are anywhere from okay to mediocre. The gameplay is almost exactly the same as even soul calibur 2 which is the latest soul calibur game I've played. It has many of the same problems as the old games or maybe you'd consider them traditions, those are that the combat never looks natural, there are a f...

Best Fighting Game Of My Generation 0

First off I have played many fighting games from dragon ball z budokai to soul calibur 2 to mortal kombat to street fighter to capcom vs. marvel. Dont act like im just random shooting fan who comes to soul calibur IV to button mash(kilik)  or see star wars characters that dont fit.Now that I got that out of the way time to get to my first impressions. It was a day I will never forget July 29 I was extremely excited since this would be the first game that was not a shooter for me in a while , but...

Soul Calibur 4 is solid but has its heart in the wrong place 0

Soul Calibur 4 : A Medieval-themed fighting game. Or at least a medieval-themed fighting game with the camp-value turned all the way up. Oh, and there’s Yoda thrown in there for some reason. Story : So we can now confirm that "A long time ago in a galaxy far far away" was simply referring to 1500s Europe. Or at least an alternate dimension of 1500s Europe where the nutrition of the general population was different enough to make their women significantly more endowed and the men look significant...

The Soul Flickers 0

Soul Calibur 4 is a darn decent game. I still had a lot of fun with it, but for whatever reason, it just doesn't have the same 'soul' as previous entries.Although most fans cite SCII as their favorite in the series, mine is III. SCIV is very close to its direct predecessor in many terms, but enough has changed to dip the quality a bit.Let's start with the two things I liked most about SCIII - lack of random guest characters, and the Create-A-Soul mode. Although I think random crossovers on the w...

Hit and Miss 0

Well, I was really pumped for Soul Calibur IV to come out. Once it did I went down to the local Hollywood Video, which for the first time ever had a game for rent on launch day. The game was amazing at first, but steadily lost attraction. Maybe it was the fact that I had not played a fighting game this generation yet that made it exciting at first, but in the end I was glad I rented it instead of buying it. Don't get me wrong, I think this is a solid game it just did not do it for me and here's ...

A dud. 0

I'm a fan of fighting games with a lot of Tekken 2 hours under my belt. Visually the game is stunning and the sounds are decent. There are plenty of characters to choose from and the customize system is pretty neat. The story and arcade modes are very short so it's a good thing the loading times are no longer then 5-10 seconds. I don't like the ring out system at all. It's a very cheap way of winning or losing. The tower mode is alright but sometimes it can get too hard unless you have a very sp...

Best Fighting Game of the Year... so far 0

Soul Calibur 4 is the lastest installment in the Soul Calibur seires.  Everything about this game is great, expect the story.  The story is about the two legendary swords; Soul Calibur and Soul Edge, and the journeys of people around the world trying to destroy or gather them.  The story is the weakest part of the game.  Luckily other modes made the game great.  Like the new mode, Tower of the Lost Souls is a great addition to the game.  The mode is about you going up a tower and facing mutiple ...

Soulcalibur IV Review 0

First off, let me say that i've been a HUGE fan of the Soul games ever since Soul Blade came out on PSone.  I have played them all for a ridiculous amount of time.  So that may sway my review right there.  There's just something about this series that keeps me coming back.  When I heard about online play I was naturally ecstatic.  The gameplay here is phenomenal as always.  If you've played a SC game before, then you know what to expect.  The addition of Critical Finishers and Armor Breaking is ...

Soul Calibur IV 0

I have to say, I think fighting games are impressive because the community around them can be so devoted. I don’t consider myself a die-hard player in the genre but I’ve spent many hours on Street Fighter 2 and Soul Calibur for the Dreamcast. Both of those games have been my introduction into the genre. Street Fighter 2 is really my first fighter, and Soul Calibur is my first true commitment to one. There is no better fighting franchise right now in my opinion than Soul Calibur. It balances dept...

The force is strong with this one.... 0

Soul Calibur IV seems to want to impress everyone. With Star Wars cameos, online play, create a fighter and much more, it looks to be the best of the series.Story: 2/5The story, for canonists like me, is, well, meh.. The story of this game has jumped ship with most titles that just have a story to string along the game. It doesnt explain how the 2 swords came back to being, what the purpose of living for Zasalalmel is anymore, or how the Star Wars people got here. Gameplay: 5/5The game follows t...

As Sexy as it is Shallow 0

Imagine that $60 dollars was all it took to buy yourself a super model. She’d be available whenever you want and all you have to do is turn on your Xbox 360. That’s about what you get when you buy Soul Calibur IV: something that looks and plays great, but is about as deep as the disc is thick. Dueling in one of Soul Calibur IV's lush environments.   The nuts and bolts of Soul Calibur IV haven’t really changed; you pit two over-elaborately designed fighters together on a 2D field with the capa...

First Impressions and thoughts on Soul Calibur IV 0

(Note: from now on my 'reviews' will be simply what my feelings are on the game rather than a real review or information based article, you can easily find those elsewhere.  I've decided to take these on a personal level, if I ever write more that is)Living in Hong Kong, Soul Calibur was already out on shelves a couple days ago, but I restrained myself from making the purchase just yet.  Though I'm quite an avid gamer, I pretty much buy all the games I think are worth buying, or even just trying...

Soul Calibur IV 0

Soul Calibur IV is a decent fighting game for this generation.  Unfortunately, it is still plagued by, at least what seems to me, the genre-wide issue of multiplayer devolving into a contest to see who can use the cheapest combo over and over again without getting hit.  (Of course, that is the player's fault, mostly.)  And some of the Achievements are RIDICULOUSLY hard to get, if you are worried about that kind of thing.  However, when you look past that the game is actually really fun to play. ...
