    Source Engine

    Concept »

Valve Corporation's proprietary game engine that debuted in summer 2004 with Counter-Strike: Source and later that same year with Half-Life 2. It may be worth noting that the first Source game released a full 2 weeks ahead of Counter-Strike, and that was Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Researches at Durham University used The Source Engine, the 3D game engine used to drive Half-Life 2, and created a virtual model of one of the university's departments.

Developers plan to use it to examine people's behaviour in a fire and to train people in good fire practice.

However, while the simulation worked for most people, those who played a lot of video games did rather unusual things.
"If a door was on fire, they [gamers] would try and run through it, rather than look for a different exit," said Dr Smith.

Valve/Steam should be very proud that the source engine is still up to par with almost every other engine. Even though it was made 4 years ago..or around there

The best way to get out of a fire is to run through it. And if that doesn't work, we can just press the continue button on the death screen and find another exit, right?

Source Engine could save real lives! Pretty cool.

Oh gamers, your lack ability to distinguish between games and reality brings a smile to my face.
