Spain is bordered to the south and east by the Mediterranean Sea, to the north by France and Andorra and to the west Portugal. It's area covers 504,030 km², that makes Spain the second largest country in Western Europe after France.
Because of its location, the territory of Spain was subject to many external influences since prehistoric times . Conversely, the country itself has been an important source of influence to other regions, especially during time that is called Modern Era, when it became a global empire that has left a legacy of about 400 million Spanish speakers today.
Spain is a democratic land organized in the form of a parliamentary government under a constitutional monarchy. It has tenth largest economy in the world and very high living standard .
It is a member of the European Union, United Nations, NATO and WTO.
When it comes to gaming, Spain has appeared in mostly sports genre. FIFA series, NBA Live 09/10 and Formula One games are probably most known. Lastly, 2 of the greatest Spaniards in fighting games have graced Street Fighter and Soul Calibur, namely Vega and Cervantes!
Spain was also the setting for Resident Evil 4, a landmark title in the influential horror-action franchise. The player controls an American secret service agent named Leon S. Kennedy who is tasked with finding the President's daughter Ashley after she has gone missing. The player is sent to a rural Spanish village to investigate and quickly finds the locals are extremely hostile. They have been infected with a deadly parasite known as "Las Plagas" (Spanish for "the plague"), created by the same bioterrorist cult that kidnapped Ashley. Zombies can be heard communicating in Spanish, and the game makes use of Spain's pre-Euro currency the peseta for transactions with the shady Merchant.
