OverviewDeveloped by Interactive Data Visualization, Inc., SpeedTree is a procedural content generation engine which creates and renders trees and other foliage quickly and on the fly. The package was developed due to the developers' own dissatisfaction at other solutions on the market at the time, and was originally developed as a component for a golf video game. When the game was scrapped, the engine was ported first to a 3D Studio Max plugin, then rewritten as a real-time software toolkit.
