Spelunky PC

Anyone know if the creator is bringing the HD version to PC? As far as I can tell the Xbox one has better graphics and local multiplayer which are both lacking in the current PC version.

I'm hoping the XBL version gets ported to Steam. Infinite bombs deathmatch, here I come!

Sure, I'd buy a Spelunky HD on Steam (or GOG). I played the shit out of the free version.

It's probably a timed exclusive for summer of arcade. Can't wait for this to eventually come to Steam.

@thabigred: I don't think Spelunky is part of the Summer of Arcade promotion. I think that kicks off next week with Tony Hawk HD.

@ADAMWD: Whether or not it's part of the promotion, releasing near the summer of arcade gives you an uptick in sales, it's clear he did this on purpose. Indie devs know releasing on consoles first then later on PC gets a lot of people to buy multiple copies of their games.

Does the original have controller support? I tried playing it with a keyboard and I remembered how much I hate platformers on the PC because of the controls.

@PrivateIronTFU: It does, yeah.

I'm really looking forward to playing this on PC in all its HD goodness.

To anyone who has played both versions, are there any noticeable difference in gameplay to the two versions already available(PC original and XBLA)?

Based on what I saw in the QL, you can probably see more of the screen at once on a PC (depending on the size of your monitor). Depending on your playstyle that may or may not be an advantage,

I played the PC version and have to say the Xbox version is better by watching the QL and looks like it has better controls(played PC with a controller)

I like the controls in the XBLA version more. Having all the controls on buttons makes moves like running jumps and grabbing ledges easier. The XBLA version has several new enemies at least. Just in area 1 I've seen

scorpion, a cobra, a hanging spider, also rats but I'm not sure they can hurt you.

I'm guessing there are new other things too (items, feelings, areas), but I've not seen them. The rules for opening shortcuts are different too, but not obviously harder.

I played a bit of the XBLA version today, it seems much easier than the old PC version.

I'm happy to hear that they are making a PC version of it. (Big Surprise) When they do make it on the PC I hope it has mod support, and they remove the stupid timer for not being able to say in the same area for long. (or option)

I also don't understand why people are comparing the 2 versions, one which came out in 2008 PC (Free) version and the 360 version (15.00$) which came out in 2012.

It's been like two years since he said that though.

I'd love to play the updated version. If they could release Cave Story+ on PC and people still buy it, I'm sure people would totally buy Spelunky HD

I think this would sell better on the PC as im sure all the people who play the original would be all over it. I kinda want to play this but im still holding out for a pc version as im done buying 360 games i think.
