Maybe you are playing WoW mistakenly?

basically if you finish luke cages part, which i think is basically act one, then you've seen all the variety that the game has to offer.

You don't really have to do all those side missions, you'll notice how they're marked as OPTIONAL which means all they give is a little extra XP.

There is no variety to the side missions, not that much in the story missions either. The game gets really repetitive rather quickly and I don't think there is one redeeming quality in the game.

why do i feel like im doing WOW fetch quests all the time?

Because it is a spider man game.
