This is probably old news to some, but I just found that there is a Spyro movie in the works. The release date is scheduled to be Christmas 2009.

Will this be a videogame movie that actually works? I'm just curious if they will keep Spyro's personality or if they will just take his design and change everything about him. Either way, I have no idea how this movie will turn out.

"A rare purple dragon of prophecy, on a voyage of self-discovery, struggles to come to terms with his potential while finding himself embroiled in an epic struggle against evil."

guessing this will be a film aimed at kids i suppose it could work out

It could be a good movie for kids and stuff. It would have been the last game I would have thought about making a movie of, but its obviously going to be aimed at the younger audience, so I'm not the target audience, so I can't really complain.

No offense but who cares about Spyro now. He is dead. Why didn't they pick a different character to make a film about?

This might actually be able to combat Uwe Boll's Far Cry as worst videogame movie ever.

Yeah I heard about this a while back, thought it would get cancelled or be a straight to DVD thing. It wont be the Spyro we loved it will be some rubbish based off those new melodramatic games with Elijah Wood (Frodo) as Spyro.

Spyro died when Insomniac let him go. He should have been left to rest in peace. Instead we have to suffer this bastardization.

The new games are better than you say

The only thing i found wroung with the games were that the game play was boring. The plot (In my opinion) was rather enjoyable.

I started playing The first of the new ones (Legend series) and I didn't like it. a month later me and a friend beat the 2nd and I enjoyed the plot and well it had the same game play. The 3rd one had the worst game play but the plot more than made up for it. If i could do it over again I'd only play the last 2.

I havn't yet played any of the old ones but if the (great) old games play was added into the plot it would definitly be aworth while game...

Movies don't have game play..... (as far as i know) So the movie should have a great plot so it might be good

also I'd give the legend series a chance. the middle games might have alienated you with their crapiness but I'd give the 2nd legend game a complete  (12 hour)  playthrough to see if you would like the others.

Wait, why have I not heard about this before? Actually, I'd probably be better off not finding out. Now excuse me while I go bury my childhood memories before they make a Crash Bandicoot movie.

When I played the first spyro at the tender age of  twelve, the story really captured me. So it would be a good kids movie. But I used to really love this series, isomniac  did it perfectly.

Based on the highly successful Spyro franchise...

Eragon is one of the worst movies I have ever seen.  Name dropping Eragon is a terrible idea.

This has got to be a joke. Didn't Eragon flop? Why would they advertise that relationship?

EDIT: Never mind. $100 million profit is not a flop at all. Still doesn't seem like something you would want to announce.
