Complete Event List (and a request for help)

#1 Edited by SpaceInsomniac (3885 posts) -

For those wondering, SSX contains 62 courses. 153 drops sounds larger, but that's the "real" number. No matter how you want to think about it, there's a whole lot of content.

With that out of the way, below you'll find a complete listing of every event to be found in the new SSX. I typed this up because I wanted an easy to view list that would help me understand what type of situation I'm getting myself into, each time I'm picking an event. A large part of this is understanding just how likely it will be that I'll end up flying off the side of a mountain and into a bottomless pit, which surprisingly enough isn't my favorite part of the new SSX.

And that's where I need your help. I'm not sure that I'm happy with all of my ratings just yet. While it's hard to be completely objective about something like this, I'd love to hear from anyone who feels that the number I've assigned a track doesn't fit. I'll be happy to reevaluate, and make changes if I feel they're warranted. If you see anything else that's incorrect or missing, let me know about that as well. When I'm happy with everything, I'll likely make it into a guide for the site.

Anyhow, here we go.

LEGEND:

- Course name [event types] (equipment requirements) 1-5 bottomless pit rating - environment type

R - Race Event

T - Trick Event

S - Survival Event

AR - Armor

WS - Wing Suit

IA - Ice Axe

OT - Oxygen Tank

TP - Thermal Protection

HL - Head Lamp

PG - Pulse Goggles

1 - No bottomless pits, or you'll have to go out of your way to hit them.

2 - Some pits, but they're mostly easy to avoid.

3 - Chances are good that you're going to fall until you learn the track.

4 - It's going to be hard to stay on the mountain.

5 - You must really hate yourself.

Ah see, I knew it wasn't actually 153 courses, I feel like people (like Ryan) have been suckered by the assumption all drops were unique. Anyway 62 is still a hell of an amount.

Well if you're just looking for opinions on tracks I've played I would lower Death Zone to a 3 and raise Snake Bite to a 5. I find Snake Bite to be pretty challenging every time I go down it while Death Zone is actually a pretty easy course once you learn it.

It really isn't a big deal... each drop is usually just a trick it and a race it on the same course. And honestly, if you are playing those the same in race it and trick it, you are doing it VERY wrong.

Also, ryan was never confused about this. Every time he brought up the 153 drops he pointed out that they aren't all unique tracks.

I think you're right in that I should lower Death Zone to at least a 4, but I'm not sure Snake Bite is up there with the most challenging tracks the game has to offer.  I'll definitely look at them both again, though.

This is a great post. I want to make it a favorite so i can find it easily, but don't know how. It's amazing how many site features I still don't know how to use.
