It seems like the majority of people were completely turned off by the SSX trailer that was shown back at the VGA's. As a long-time SSX fan, I wasn't super excited by it, but I was willing to wait and see. The more that comes out about it, the more I like it. This is still EA Canada, the same people that did the games you loved. And from you can see in this video, it's alot of the same actual people at the helm.
SSX
Game » consists of 7 releases. Released Feb 28, 2012
The sixth entry in the Snowboard Super X series that allows players to ride down real world mountains in dangerous weather conditions.
Hated the SSX announcement trailer? This might help.
Eh, people forget that SSX3 had the whole "survive the mountains" type of deal with every peak.
I've always kinda been suspicious of that debut trailer. Part of me couldn't help but wonder if they did that on purpose to get people saying WTF - nothing gets the internet buzzing quite like a "THEY FORGOT THEIR ROOTS!!" story.
But I digress, I'm totally ready for a great new snowboarding games and SSX had delivered as much as any.
...I also can't help but get a little excited when hockey and snowboarding games are made by Canadians :)
" @Marino: Great link man, thanks. No, it was more or less that they emphasized the whole new gameplay mode, which apparently is (or was) called Deadly Descents, and kinda sorta forgot to provide any context.

Just speculating of course.
I remember playing the hell out of the first games back in the day. I really hope this is as good as those.
" Also, they've dropped the "Deadly Descents" subtitle. "FUCKING AGREED! Dumbass title. At the same time, I believe there was a guy in the video that specifically said he had done work on "SSX 4", which I'm assuming they consider On Tour. That game was fucking horrific.
The title is an improvement, but until I see Eddie I'm not giving them one good goddamn inch.
" @528sevenBrodi was always my dude, actually, but I feel like including Eddie would really set the bar high for dumb characters again. The title is an improvement, but until I see Eddie I'm not giving them one good goddamn inch.Totally agree although Elise is also pretty good "
According to Joystiq it's due out in January 2012: http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/13/ssx-to-descend-in-january-2012/" @Marino: I saw this stuff the other day and breathed (word?) a huge sigh of relief. Looks like a lot of the original guys who built Tricky and SSX3 are working on this project -- and it really looks like they're headed in a great direction.
I am getting very excited for this game. Whaddya think -- will it drop this holiday season?
"
Also gametrailers has the second part of that video: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/making-ssx-ssx-deadly/712695
Despite all my initial bitching about the direction this game was going, I am more than happy to admit I was wrong and am getting properly excited for this game.
Joystiq also had a bunch of new images:
Please tell me all the characters won't be in those fucking snow suits and masks the entire time.
There is no point in having different characters if they all look the same.

Huh. Well, hopefully that's only for the campaign mode and they'll let you have normal clothes (read: normal for SSX characters) in single events with no penalty." @528seven said:

This is EXACTLY what I want to hear from these guys. Seems like they're really passionate about it, and I love that!
