Stacking free for PlayStation Plus Subscribers

Stacking comes out next week on PSN and Xbox Live, but if you are a subscriber to PlayStation Plus, you're probably going to pick it up on Sony's system. Why? Because it's FREE!

It's not free, this is exactly what your $50 a year goes towards.

Hopefully this is a sign that Sony will finally get their shit together with the Playstation Plus stuff. B/c up to this point, it has been pretty awful. Especially in the US when you compare it to what Euro Plus members have gotten.

Care to elaborate? Because I've found it to be a pretty good deal. They've put out a ton of free stuff on there, like Wipeout, the entire Sam and Max series, etc. as well as giving you discounts on stuff and beta access to some games without having to preorder. I know it's nothing that you can keep when your subscription lapses, but I've easily gotten more than my money's worth out of my PS+ membership in the few months I've had it.

That's awesome for Playstation Plus members. Glad that Sony is doing right by them.

That being said, I'm really anxious to see the reviews for this game. I'm curious to see if this'll be worth the purchase on Xbox Live instead of being my usually cheap self and waiting for it to go on sale later this year.

Very rarely are there things on there that I actually care about, you don't actually own the stuff. Which makes it cost way more than it's worth to me.

Yeah i've really never seen why people have such a big problem with PS+. Hey if people wanna pay $50 a year to get well over $100 of content for the year then why not? It's not like they're forcing it on anybody.

Because out of that 100 dollars worth of content, I will only care about 1% of it.

Well then i guess it's not for you. Simple enough. There are plenty of people out there who don't read up on games a lot, and don't buy a lot of psn games that could get a lot of value out of this stuff. They get to experience a lot of games in a year for a pretty reasonable price.

Doesn't Killzone 3 come with an invitation to the Socom beta in the US? That's what I've heard.

I really felt ripped off at first but it has slowly started to earn it's price. Especially lately

I dont understand peopel using the "you dont own it" argument. Do you own the DVDs you rent from Netlficks or the Games you rent from Gamefly? No, if your service lapses, you have to return those. IMO im getting more out of it then I am my live subscription. What does live give me? a sports app I never use? twitter and face book access thats better on a damn smartphone? Netflicks thats on EVERYTHING for no additional charge for the app? Multiplayer that I rarely use? Honestly, people still pay for live because weve just gotten used to it.

I don't own it, sure, but I'm never going to play most things after I've beaten it and moved on to the next one

and I guess you find the deal to terrible, but I've gotten Wipeout HD ($20), Sam and Max series ($30), Stacking ($15), Sackboys prehistoric movies ($7), discounts, access to Killzone 3 and Assassins creed beta, and early access to some demos and games...

@CL60: I had the same view as you but I decided to put down the $50 for a year and 3 months and I'm pleasantly surprised. I got Wipeout HD, an entire Sam and Max season etc, some of the discounts have helped me out (like discovering Money Puzzle Exchanger from the PS1 import store for $3), getting free PSP minis has brought new life to my PSP, hints at free map packs when big Sony games like Killzone 3 and Socom 4 come out, and features like cloud saving are gonna be great as I will soon have 2 PS3s. For me it is totally worth it, now if you had a 360 and that was your main online console or didn't have a PSP it would be a waste. I'd say the rate at which a PS+ update disappoints me is 1/4.

Digging up a four day old thread: But it's after 6:00 pm on the west coast right now. Feb 8th only has a few hours left, and this thing still isn't out for PSN+ Subscribers.

Apparently, someone at Sony forgot how to tell time.

He didn't say PS+ was free. He said that if you're a PS+ subscriber, then the game is free, which is an accurate statement. FYI, it's only free for the first month, so if you have PS+, you better pick it up now!
