Anyone else excited?

#1 Posted by Hall0559 (5 posts) -

I'm pumped about this game... I loved the first once I got past the bugs and horrible optimization.
Now I've got a new (ish) PC ready to rock... its gona be a great fall for shooters with rpg elements.
Clear Sky, Fallout 3... really I dont need to go any further than that!

I'm pretty excited.

#3 Posted by Demilich (2599 posts) -

Only fuck yes.

#4 Posted by pause422 (6170 posts) -

It looks very promising, I never got a chance to play the first stalker, but I heard a ton of good things about it(besides some technical problems aside) and I've seen some stuff for Clear Sky and it looks really good... just gotta upgrade my PC first, which will happen sometime in the next half a year or so, then I'll pick it up for sure.

#5 Posted by Rowr (5474 posts) -

I didnt realise it was nearly out!

Going to be fucking awesome.

Might need an upgrade :\

Originally they said that it will run as well as shadow of chernobyl on the same pc. Anyone know if thats still true?

Isn't everyone excited?

Sadly no. I have friends with pretty excellent taste in games, and even they can't get into STALKER. But if you can, it's the most immersive game ever made. Just imagining it without the bugs and upgraded graphics makes me drool.
#8 Posted by Dib9394 (57 posts) -

Yes, DEFINITELY.

Can't wait to love it like I did with Shadow of Chernobyl.

#9 Posted by Kush (8889 posts) -

I am super psyched for this game. I loved the first game and this one looks to be even better...I still wish it would come to consoles so it could get a wider audience though.

#10 Posted by Demilich (2599 posts) -

I don't know about STALKER on consoles. One of its main draws is sucking you into the game world, one thing that never really does it for me on consoles. Whenever I'm playing a console game I've always got that thought in the back of my mind, like 'quit playing video games' or something.

It would certainly boost sales though. Game World GSC has said STALKER was pirated to no ends and they didn't make a lot of money off it.

#11 Posted by ip007 (266 posts) -

Hell yeah I'm excited about Clear Sky! Shadow of Chernobyl was awesome!

#12 Posted by xplodedd (1316 posts) -

i am kind of excited.

#13 Posted by Demilich (2599 posts) -

I need a job, like tomorrow in order to be able to afford this D:

I'm going to go to the nearest store and demand a job. After how incredible Shadow of Chernobyl was I refuse to pirate this game. It's worth a special edition purchase.

#14 Posted by Black_Raven (1759 posts) -

Hell yea, I'm counting down the days till its release.

#15 Posted by Demilich (2599 posts) -

Goddamn, I may have to borrow money from my parents for the first time in a decade.

#16 Posted by Zebadee (491 posts) -

Can't wait, if they have learnt things from their last game this one should be awesome.

#17 Posted by dozerking (45 posts) -

absolutey, I'm even sad I have to wait another week to play it :(

but a Saturday release?? That doesn't make much sense but it would make for a perfect weekend, can't wait, see you all online of course

#18 Posted by Demilich (2599 posts) -

I haven't looked forward to a game this much in years (excluding MGS4), which makes it all the more painful that I might have to wait a few weeks to play it...

#19 Posted by mrhankey (695 posts) -

hell yeah.

#20 Posted by Swinghi (142 posts) -

I am really enjoying the first game, I hope the fix the crashes and such.  Other than that, it is great and quite scary.

#21 Posted by xruntime (1920 posts) -

I'm excited for this - but not for Fallout 3.

#22 Posted by Demilich (2599 posts) -

8 more days...

Not that pumped after the bad reviews. Well not bad but not great either.

#26 Posted by wrecks (2198 posts) -

Oh shit take that back. They were actually good reviews haha. Some liar on the GS forums said they got bad reviews. Fucker.

PC zone UK: 88/100

Games master UK: 88/100

#28 Posted by Demilich (2599 posts) -

Don't forget SoC got worse reviews than those, which means if they're anything to go by, Clear Sky will be amazing.

#29 Posted by Forrest7 (45 posts) -

Delayed until September 15th.

Son of a bitch!

Just in NA.  There's some manufacturing problems or something and the copies all got recalled.  Oh well, it's only a week or so.

#33 Posted by Forrest7 (45 posts) -

So it seems, I might buy the European version. It's still set for the 5th. Steam version is still at the 6th, however. Apparently, they had some trouble with the CD keys.

#34 Posted by Tanuki (275 posts) -

Damn CD keys always causin' trouble!  Actually I sorta want the EU version too.  Then I can get my hands on that awesome CE.  You get a friggin' zippo that says STALKER.  That's too cool.  Even though I don't smoke.  And I've never needed a lighter in my life... but it's still damn cool!  The banadana is cool too.  But I don't wear bandanas...

#35 Edited by marbleCmoney (447 posts) -

Loved SoC and can't wait to play Clear Sky.
Hopefully whatever problems they've had won't affect the Steam release which is still listed for this weekend.

#36 Posted by zeus_gb (595 posts) -

I heard something about a bad IGN review but quite frankly I couldn't give two ***** about what the reviews say, I want to make up my own mind.

#37 Posted by pause422 (6170 posts) -

IGN gave it an 8.2 actually, definitely not a low score. Now getting my new PC in about 2 more weeks(after another paycheck), and I'll be playing clear skys soon as it comes out, I can't wait :)

#38 Posted by xruntime (1920 posts) -

The reviews aren't as great as I hoped they would be, but I'm still getting it. It looks and feels so real....

#39 Posted by pause422 (6170 posts) -

The reviews are a bit over what stalker SoC got it seems..and that game to me was absolutely amazing, even with all the bugs...fuck whatever it gets review wise though, I've seen enough of it, and even if I hadn't, more STALKER is definitely a good thing, buy first day hands down :)

#40 Posted by Apex (42 posts) -

I've had my copy (European release) for a day now and am not happy at all. I have encountered far too many bugs that have lead me to restart far too many times (I can't even start a new game without it crashing now). I'm going to have to wait til the second patch is released for non-Russian versions of the game.

Once you get passed the horrific bugs in this game it is actually great fun, though you make get lucky and not encounter any gltiches, as some people claim.

#41 Posted by artofwar420 (6249 posts) -

I am very exited for this game. I mean it's like STALKER, but with better graphics and supposedly less bugs, I'm in.

I've been starting to get really worried.  A lot of user reviews have been coming in saying the bug problem is so major the game is nigh unplayable.  In fact, I read one person saying that the main story quest bugged out for him.  If this is true I'm going to be pretty dissapointed.  And I have a feeling that Clear Sky might be on the top of a lot of people's This Years Most Dissapointing list.  Only 5 days to go I guess and I'll get to find out myself... but it sounds like I'll be waiting for another 3 patches before I can truly have the Stalker experience I wanted.
#43 Posted by BiggerBomb (6944 posts) -

I wish this game was on consoles.  My computer could never run it. D:

#44 Edited by Apex (42 posts) -

UPDATE: I got the game working yesterday thanks to a user created script fix (you can find it on the GSC forums, they aren't loading at the moment so I can't find the link). Not to mention the second patch is rumoured to be out on the 15th (when the US version is out). So all should be fine.

Anyway the game is excellent, I love the faction wars, upgradeable weapons and now finding artifacts is a real challenge.

Second Update: I found the link for the fix I mentioned here... http://www.gsc-game.com/index.php?t=community&s=forums&s_game_type=xr2&thm_page=1&thm_id=16080&page=4&sec_id=18

I have already bought the game and love it so far...

Is there anyone else that hopes they would take the original stalker story/game content and export it to the Clear Sky engine/whatever, so that we might enjoy the original with better graphics and bug free? ^^
#46 Posted by pause422 (6170 posts) -

I would absolutely love if they did that, but I doubt it'll happen. Just gonna have to rely on some user mods for updated graphics..still won't be effects and s uch on the level of clear sky though.

#47 Posted by xruntime (1920 posts) -

I'm torn on this. Since I only buy around 4 games a year, I'm not sure if I want to buy this one. There are a bunch of other games that have yet to come out, Left 4 Dead, Far Cry 2, Crysis Warhead, Call of Duty: World at War.

I was hoping it would be a massive improvement over the original (which had great atmosphere and graphics but the gameplay was boring and tedious at times) but the reviews indicate its more of the same with the same bugs.

Here is my rundown of the series:

+ Great realistic atmosphere
+ Best graphics ever
+ Attention to detail in environments
+ Good AI

- Not enough combat, most of the game spent talking with NPCs or traveling from one place to another
- Too many technical things like food and jamming
- Gets boring when you stay in the same area for a while
- Can be extremely frustrating
- Initially confusing interface
- Overall, I got bored because there wasn't enough combat

I think this game would have been best off like Crysis - a game thats open ended but with linear progression.

#48 Posted by xplodedd (1316 posts) -

I am.. it looks like a good game.

There is a lot more combat in clearsky and it makes the game seem to run at a much better pace, there are some pretty big bugs but the new patch clears most of them up...I haven't had any problems since I patched it actually.
