    S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl is a First-Person-Shooter with many Role Playing elements. It's set in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone after a second fictional explosion in the not too distant future. It is known for its atmosphere and relatively difficult gameplay.

    Is Guide supposed to be dead when you find him?

    Doesn't bother me too much because I found Doctor's location on him anyway, but I was just curious.

    I'm not sure which part you're talking about (it has been a long time since I played last).  Due the wandering creatures and people though, I have had instances where I failed (or succeeded) missions because someone or something was killed before I even got to them.

    No, guide is supposed to be alive. Mutants will attack him, and if you get to him in time you'll have to fight them off, for a monetary reward.
