A simple round-em-up game but with good sound effects for its day.

Not bad for it's time, but repetative

Stampede is more of a round up game, the goal is to rope as many calves as possible. You can only move up and down, so you have to get the timing down to rope them as well as learn how to herd them. You get three misses, then your game is over.

There are four types of cattle and they move at different speeds. The brown calves are the fastest, the yellow ones are the slowest moving ones, with the tan ones being in between those two speeds. The black ones don't move at all, but are worth the most points of the bunch.

Overall the game comes down to your skill at herding the cows so that you can rope them effectively. The only downside is that is all that the game amounts to. This is was produced for the Atari 2600 platform though, so there is a limit to the complexity available. The graphics leave a little be desired due to lack of detail, but how much are you going to notice on running cattle anyway?

The sound is great for being on the 2600. Not just pings and dings but you get hoof sounds from the cattle and horse. (or maybe just one, it is still a 2600 after all).

This is a fun game if you like retro titles, but does have limited replay value as it is not as addicting as say Asteroids.
