Star Ocean: The Last Hope is the fourth installment in the Square Enix/Tri-Ace RPG series.
Overview
Star Ocean: The Last Hope is the latest installment in the Square Enix Role-playing Game series, which is exclusive to the Xbox 360. Unlike the other Star Ocean games, this one will feature up to four characters on screen during the battle mode and also be more team-oriented, unlike the previous games. In this installment you play as hero Edge Maverick along with heroine Reimei Saionji. Star Ocean: The Last Hope will also feature more of a sci-fi emphasis than past titles with the ability to control your own ship, which is rumored to be a large scale and the player can travel to at least 5 planets.Story

Gameplay
This installment will include the real-time based battle system like in the other Star Ocean titles, with a newly added Rush Gauge. So far no information has be revealed on the purpose of the Rush Gauge. The game will feature a seperate battle screen but will not have random battles as you will be able to be able see the enemy before the battle activates.
