Hey everyone. Long story short...awhile ago, most of the moderators chipped in and created a slush fund to be used to get games to give away to the community. We then sat on this fund for over a year until the first prizes were finally given out in collaboration with the now defunct Luchazine. Now, the Luchazine is no more and we're sitting on a boatload of Steam games to give here goes, the first test on how we're going to do things. This is going to continue on a weekly or biweekly basis until at least Christmas, or until our entire stock is depleted...which is substantial. Some contests may have more than one winner, but for now there shall be only one.
For this giveaway, the sole winner will receive one Steam copy of Knights of the Old Republic. The winner will be chosen by a random name selector - entrants will be chosen from a pool of all Whiskey Media Subscribers to reply to this thread during the next 24 hours. I will close this topic at 9pm Pacific Time on Thursday, December 2nd, and then announce a winner shortly thereafter. One entry per person, and subscribers only this time. For future giveaways we may keep it subscribers only, or open it up to more users with criteria that will be determined at some future date.

It would be nice:
1) If you've played KOTOR countless times, don't enter
2) If you have no interest in playing KOTOR, don't enter
3) If you don't have a PC capable of running KOTOR, don't enter.
I guess what I'm saying is, do your fellow members a favor and don't enter just for the sake of getting something free. Give people who really want to play this game a better chance of winning it! If you wish to reply to this thread and are a subscriber but don't want to enter, please state as such in your reply and I won't enter you into the hat.
Thanks everyone and good luck!

I'm not entering because I both own a Steam version of KoToR and have played it many, many times. But I would like to say that this is very kind of the moderators, and good luck to all who enter!

I've never had a chance to play KOTOR all the way through since I've never owned it. Since I now have a fairly decent computer I may just get my chance. count me in!

#6 Posted by ArclightBorealis (1722 posts) -

Sure, I'd love to take a chance. That'd be one game taken off my wishlist.

#7 Posted by TaliciaDragonsong (8734 posts) -

I kinda want paypal so I can participate in stuff like this first =P
Good luck to others who have yet to experience this gaming miracle!

#8 Posted by Kyreo (4683 posts) -

I assume you bought this for 2.50 on the sale the other day...

#9 Posted by KaosAngel (14251 posts) -
@TaliciaDragonsong: Pft, I think you'll at least have a monthly subscription in your Christmas Stocking this holiday.
#10 Posted by FateOfNever (1863 posts) -

I just want to say good luck to those that enter and thanks to the mods for doing this.
Oh, and don't enter me in the contest; I own the game on both the original xbox and have a hard copy for the PC.   One of these days I'll get around to actually beating the game though.

#11 Posted by TaliciaDragonsong (8734 posts) -
I bloody well hope so, I want to support this site but there's not much I can do unless they come up with paypal soon =P
#12 Posted by MB (14008 posts) -
@TaliciaDragonsong: Yeah...we realize this, and why we are having discussions about how best to implement upcoming giveaways without restricting them to subscribers only. We really just needed to get moving and get these games in the hands of people who will play them, especially with Christmas coming up.

Never played any of the Starwars RPGs, only the FPSs and the action games. I'd love to try it out! Enter me!

#14 Posted by Ktargo (102 posts) -

I would like to enter. I have played very little of this game and I'm quite ashamed of that. I watched my friend play bits and pieces of it years ago but I only ever played it a couple times. I'm not sure why I have yet to get around to buying and playing through this game since Bioware has made a lot of my favorite titles. Maybe just the Star Wars part of it really put me off, never been much of a fan. I neglected to purchase it when it was on sale on Steam too because I had already spent more than I would have liked over the weekend on the rest of the deals ><
This is pretty cool of you guys to do this. Giant Bomb never ceases to impress.

#17 Posted by TaliciaDragonsong (8734 posts) -
I hear ya, been thinking the same thing that its kinda lame for some loyal (as in not payment loyal) people to get screwed over.
Or, in my case, people who want to pay and support and not getting a chance to pay or opt in in contest!
But, ah well!
#18 Posted by superjop (84 posts) -

Please enter me, too!
I've never played KOTOR but have always been really ineterested to try it!

#19 Posted by MB (14008 posts) -
@TaliciaDragonsong: Top men are working on it. TOP men. And by top men I mean Whiskey engineers, not that gay bar here in the city.

I expect nothing less <3

I'd also like to commend the moderators. Don't enter me into the draw for I already have a copy of KOTOR, also I think it's a shame you couldn't acquire physical copy of KOTOR to giveaway. Game had a really good spiral bound manual.

#25 Posted by JTHomeslice (256 posts) -

Never played this game. I'd really like to.

#26 Posted by cooljammer00 (2302 posts) -

I'd like a version I can play.  I bought the game many years ago, but the Starforce DRM has locked out all my computers for claiming that the disc in my hand is fake.
They are LUCKY I haven't pirated it yet.

#27 Posted by AlwaysBeClothing (1590 posts) -

Do not enter me,
Just wanted to commend the mods for doing something amazing for the community!

#37 Posted by Soviet666 (293 posts) -

#39 Posted by embryo69 (51 posts) -
Yes please. Never played Kotor, would love to try it on my new alienware m11x.
#40 Posted by DrHawking (218 posts) -

This is really cool of the mods to do. Never had a capable PC or xbox when KOTOR came out so I have never played despite the desire.

#41 Posted by ScunerMac (39 posts) -

I would love to be entered into the draw please. You guys really do class up this place :-)

#42 Posted by DazzHardy (918 posts) -

Might as well, I've never played KoToR.

#43 Posted by Budr (11 posts) -

Very cool. Stick me in the proverbial hat, please.

#44 Posted by angryemu (64 posts) -

Sounds good, I'll enter! Woo!

#45 Posted by Cincaid (3048 posts) -

It's on my wishlist, would be neat to win something for once though! Count me in fellas, and thanks for your big hearts.

#46 Posted by senkir (19 posts) -

I've tried it exactly once on a machine that couldn't run it very well.  With my current system I think I would do a lot better.  Count me in on the drawing. :O

#47 Posted by mosdl (3388 posts) -

Count me in as well, still finishing ME1

#48 Posted by JeanLuc (3795 posts) -

I'm not entering but I wish good luck to those that are. KOTOR is one of my favorite games of all time.

#49 Posted by melcene (3214 posts) -

I've actually never played KOTOR (or the second one).  I've watched other people play enough to know that I loved the robot that called everyone Meatbags.  I didn't think I'd be much into games of its kind, but Mass Effect 2 totally blew that out of the water.  So ever since I got into ME2 I've been thinking I should get around to trying KOTOR or KOTOR 2 but simply haven't yet.
