And they aren't good. The ratings are mediocre, but from the demo I played it seemed great. The Metascore is right now at 64...
Are you still going to be getting this? I certainly, will!

From all the reviews and word of mouth, this game sounds fucking terrible.

#3 Posted by wemibelec90 (796 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

More a rent than a buy, personally.  The first one was fun, sure, but I don't really see myself spending full price on this game, especially with everything else great coming out the same day.  I do plan to play through it but not until much later.

The reviews scared me a little and I'm a bit dissapointed but I liked the first one and I wanna play this aswell

I love Star Wars and I'll play this when it's cheap

Oh my goodness! A sequel to a mediocre, shallow cash in game turns out to be mediocre and shallow! It has TWO lightsabers, how could that NOT have made up for all the game's shortcomings!

#6 Posted by FreakAche (2869 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

Hmm... I kind of liked the first game as a story in the Star Wars universe. I was planning on renting this, but I don't know. Maybe I should look at some of the reviews.

#7 Posted by TaliciaDragonsong (8670 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

Definitely what I expected :(

#8 Posted by withateethuh (726 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

I could tell from the story how lazy and uninspired this was going to be.

NIN FTW.

The demo for TFU2 left me feeling exactly how I did about the first game which is to say it was fucking terrible at the best of times.

Just LucasArts showing a sheer lack of creativity and trying to milk a cash cow. God damn them.

#11 Posted by Jolt92 (1479 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

Great that there's such a positive vibe for this game!
I think I'll have fun with it for what it is, and not what it's actually supposed to be.

I love when games, no matter what their review score is, get positive vibes on forums like this. It rarely happens especially on this forum because everyone likes to talk everything down, but when it does it's nice to see.

I'll be doing the same - taking the game in for what it is!

Until they make another star wars game in which lightsabers actually take dudes down in one hit like they are supposed to ( Oh wait, that wookie with a wooden stick is blocking my attack!) then i shall continue to ignore star wars games

#14 Posted by CL60 (16906 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

I loved the first one and thought it was fantastic. This one will most likely be no different.

#15 Posted by Azteck (7330 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

I'll probably pick it up once it goes cheap. I have too many other things to buy for now.

Apparently the story in this one broke it for many reviewers. This is just hearsay, but apparently it is just disjointed and makes the first one meaningless. The game parts are kinda fixed, but the story drags it all down.

I really really did like the first one too, but I think I might wait a little bit before getting this one. Let me know how it is for you though.
#17 Posted by AlisterCat (5025 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

I've still always felt they didn't make it enough like God of War, too much like Jedi Power Battles. It's mostly camera and HUD stuff. If Santa Monica studios worked on that game it might be my favourite ever. Still, the series is a fairly decent action game but it's so arcadey with the pulled back camera, health bars and power ups.

#18 Posted by Jolt92 (1479 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

I too would've waited for it to go down in price. But I'm gonna trade in two games I don't care a fuck about and get it for a dollar. So that'll be a nice trade.

#19 Posted by TheHBK (4884 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

LucasArts, listen up candyasses, read my lips

JEDI KNIGHT 3

#20 Posted by withateethuh (726 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago
@TheHBK: THIS. A MILLION TIMES THIS

Even Jedi Academy was pretty fun.
#21 Posted by OneManX (1541 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

Man that sucks... Starkiller is a LEGIT good character, dig his story, dig his voice, but the games around him are just BUSTED!

#22 Posted by Diamond (8634 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

I'd prefer a game in the style of Dark Forces or Tie Fighter, but I'd take a Jedi Knight or even another Rogue Squadron game now...

#23 Posted by shivermetimbers (581 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

Anyone could see from playing the demo that's a repetitive borefest with its only appeal being "look physics!" It's funny that the game has already been spoofed in No More Heroes 2 with the only thing different is the fact that he has 2 lightsabers instead of one.
#24 Posted by Grubich (21 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

I don't give a damn about what the reviews say, I'm gonna buy it, & fuckin' enjoy it.

That follows common sense, but it seems like it would make the game WAY too easy, unless you were just fighting other people with lightsabers.

Its true it does make the game easy, however Jedi Outcast II for the pc managed it alongside difficulty pretty well many many years ago - most if not all enemies would lose limbs and die instantly when you got up close, the difficulty was getting up close alive! though that game also had a gun that disintegrated guys in one hit too! that shit was bananas :D

@OmegaPirate:
That sounds pretty dang cool.
#28 Posted by AnAmericanPatriot (141 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

I'M SURE I'm gonna play IT WHEN it's a bit CHEAPER, but something about IT (and the FIRST ONE did this TOO) strikes me AS FUCKING fanfiction in the worst WAY. I THINK it's partially THE NAMES.

#29 Posted by onyxghost (206 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

The first one bummed me out. I thought the controls were kinda of a let down. The force really felt like it was leashed. I still played it to completion, but I only played it once and promptly forgot about it.

#30 Posted by marrec (256 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

The first one was a disappointing mess as well.  Why are we surprised to find that this second one isn't any better?

You gotta admit, TFU was "the best" Star Wars product for a long time.

Seeing how TFU2 turned out, now we know why the entire TFU team was let go.
Honestly i think the higher ups @ Lucasart prefer a Clone Wars TFU so can they pimp it out at the same time with the cartoons.

Also, you can't make JK3 @ 2011 unless you make it like God of War.
Those FPS controls with a lightsaber is not a game you can sell.

ALSO
The Republic Commando franchise should be revisited.
Start with Republic Commando 2, then go to Imperial Commando, followed by Rebel Commando and end it with Supremo Gungan Commando Jedi Warfare.

As I always expected.

#33 Posted by MooseyMcMan (8559 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

I enjoyed the first one a lot, but if the story isn't all that great, then I can't justify buying this until the price goes way down.

Yup. I don't know why everyone was so high on this game in the first place.

I'm a slut for slick presentation so I'll probably winding up renting it anyways.

No. The Clone Wars animated series is fantastic and say what you want about Family Guy but their Star Wars parodies are classic and reverent at the same time. TFU was mediocre at best, forgettable if not for the Star Wars branding.
#36 Posted by ArbitraryWater (8983 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

Wait, why are people surprised? The first game's gameplay ranged from decently derivative to straight up bad in a lot of places. Not to mention, the fact that Starkiller is a clone kind of broke all suspension of disbelief for me in the story department, and this one looks to be even more fanservice-y.

whoops didn't make my "" more obvious.
the 1st level where you play as Vader 1 shoting all the wookies with the March of the Imperial playing was awesome. I bought TFU1 solely for that.

I very much prefer DarkHorse's SW:Republic than CN's Clone Wars.
#39 Posted by JoeyIA (653 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

Didn't like the demo but I didn't think it was bad.  I rented the 1st one for achievements & I'll probably do the same thing for this one too.

Too bad they are ending the Dark Horse comic cause it was pretty great as well. But damn I am a sucker for Gendy Tartakovski.

Yup, I'm picking it up. Reviews don't affect my judgement in the slightest.

I'm glad.

Hopefully, Lucasarts gets some sense and remakes the countless other good Star Wars franchises they have in their vaults.

This is exactly the kind of thing I have Gamefly for. Game should be getting here either tomorrow or Thurs...

The demo was mediocre at best... Why are you surprised?!

#49 Posted by NikoAlexander57 (359 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

Dammit, I had high hopes for this game. @TheHBK: Unless jedi knight 3 comes out like you suggest, TOR seems to be lookin like the only good star wars games to be coming out for a while.

#50 Posted by Redbullet685 (5739 posts) - 2 years, 6 months ago

Same with the first game. I loved the demo, but reviews are mediocre. I'll end up renting this.
