The Force Unleashed, Fun in Spades 0

Providing a dazzling display of assorted force powers, and a story that puts Lucus's prequels to shame, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is, conceptually, everything hard-core Jedihaulics could ever want; unfortunately an uneven difficulty curve dampens what would otherwise have been the ultimate Star Wars experience.  Kicking-off in the cold, fear-inducing shoes of Darth Vader, The Force Unleashed immediately showcases the raw power of the force as Vader chokes, blasts, and slices his way through...

Star Wars: Force Unleashed can't live down the hype. But it doesn't live up to it, altogether.WHY THE HYPE IS REAL:Star Wars has a huge advantage over most video games simply because it often calls upon music, characters, and storylines that tug at Star Wars fans. It's cheap, at times, but SWFU does a great job of not overselling the story. It's probably the best story that Lucas has drempt up in the past 2 decades - which was a pleasant surprise. The physics are very cool - and the FORCE is fun ...

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Review 0

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is a game by LucasArt in which you will play the role of Darth Vader's apprentice. You will be taking missions from Vader through your android Proxy, who is also programmed to kill you if he gets the chance. Your mission is simple, snuff out all the Jedis that Vader uncovers. The twist is that the Empire is unaware of you, so you're going to have to kill anyone and everyone that gets in your way.Graphically this game has some small problems if you're looking at are...

A troubled youth with a lightsaber and bad attitude? Duude! 0

I must say, being a huge Star Wars fan (who isn't these days) I had ginormous expectations for this game when it first came out. But then I completely forgot about it, until I stumbled upon it in the "Used"-section of the local Gamestop about a year later. "Why not?", I thought and purchased it on the spot. Then I came home, and played it for a solid 6 hours. My opinion about it? Well...It's far from a bad game, it's actually quite brilliant. The first 3 hours, at least. You see, it becomes a ta...

Not what it could have been... 0

Overall this is a decent game, though it does have some big flaws. I played through the PS3 version. When you start out, the game is very impressive. You start the game as Darth Vader, then after the first mission you switch over to his apprentice. This game takes place between movies 3 & 4, if you watch them in order. As you progress farther through the game you get new and upgraded force powers, and more lightsaber combos. The graphics in the game are nice, and the force powers do a really...

This game restored my faith in the Wii 0

I put in my Star Wars: The Force Unleashed disc thinking it was going to be the last Wii game I will ever bother to play. Disappointed time and time again by blockbuster games I was willing to try one last one. I sit here now half writing half looking for the next Wii game to play. What I’m saying is, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has not only brought back the Star Wars universe for me, it has also made me love the Wii again. Here’s why:    Info:Platform: Wii (I am reviewing the Wii one which ...

TFU has its flaws, but it hits home where it really matters 0

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (TFU) was a long time in the making. We waited quite a while for this thing to finally land on store shelves, and now we have seen just how powerful the Force can be. The title speaks for itself; you truly haven't seen anything quite like this in Star Wars before. TFU has some flaws, but those can't stop players from enjoying the fantastic story and ultra fun gameplay that lies beneath.(Spoilers in this paragraph!) TFU has one of the greatest stories ever told in a...

I'm going to start this review by going on record as being a huge Star Wars fan. I mean, a really big Star Wars fan, and thus my review might be just a little bit biased. I am also, though, a gamer through and through, and as a gamer I was constantly frustrated by this game.As a Star Wars fan, I enjoyed the game for the most part, and I definitely think the game is worth a play-through. As a gamer, I was constantly frustrated and disappointed by this game. This thing has been in development for ...

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 0

I wasn't expecting much from the gameplay because of all the reviews I'd read, I was really just playing it for the story and to have some fun throwing Stormtroopers about. I wasn't prepared for how frustrating the combat would be though, it really is bad. On a couple of occasions I came to close to harming my children (my sofa and my Bravia) but thankfully I restrained myself. There are a few key problems with the combat; The camera. During normal gameplay you have the control of the camera but ...

    Simply a Mess 0

This is what happens when profit focused management stifles creative developers. The Force Unleashed has moments of fun but is so weighed down with a feeling of rushed, poor, uninspired design and polish that you will probably start crying (at least on the inside).  The 'Meh, not too bad': Playing as Vader for a few minutes was pretty cool.  The Terrible:  Sparse check points are unforgivable in a game aimed to please a broad mass-market.This feels like a linear and unfinished beta of InFamous. ...

"Force" is a memorable, though imperfect Star Wars game 0

I have to admit up front, I've never been a huge "Star Wars" fan. But when I first saw the trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed," I was pumped. The prospect of harnessing and wielding the power of the Force first-hand as opposed to watching it in action from the theatre seat strongly drew my interest. For the most part, "The Force Unleashed" delivers. Fry your opponents with lightning, blast them sky high with force push, or crush them with environmental objects--the choice is yours. As ...

Let's forget this ever happened. 0

I want to enjoy my time with The Force Unleashed, I really do, but Lucasarts clearly had other plans. Every time I play through a legitimately fun section of the game, I am foolishly lured into thinking, for the umpteenth time, "Hey, maybe this will turn out good after all." Not so. Like clockwork, each fun section of the game is followed by a hideously annoying one. In short, there are many elements of TFU that work just fine, but there are at least as many that work poorly, and thus the newest...

Lucasarts Has Taught You Well, But You Are Not A Jedi Yet 0

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is basically, part of Lucasfilm's attempt to pull another Shadows Of The Empire-esque multi-media crossover event-thingie, spanning video games, novels and comics, to bridge the gap between the end of the Prequel Trilogy and the Original Trilogy. Consequently, the hype behind the game is huge, particularly considering that this is, basically, Lucasarts' last in-house Star Wars game. It's not a bad way to go out - but it could have been better. After a semi-tutorial/...

A Servicable Addition to the Star Wars Universe 0

To any fan of Star Wars, new media for the franchise is a blessing. Whether it's good or not remains to be seen. Luckily, Star Wars: Force Unleashed is a great addition to George Lucas' mythos. For starters, the story is excellent. It has been said countless times before but that just means its true. It becomes apparent quite quickly that the writers were working diligently to create a story worthy of the Star Wars legacy. I like to think of it as proactivly appologizing for the abyzmal 'Star Wa...

A Sad Affair Of Shoveware 0

The Star Wars universe is one that has received a very mixed reception in recent years and while this applies heavily to the high budget, blue screen dependent, prequel movies it also applies to video game series. The Force Unleashed, the latest of Lucasarts Star Wars video game exploits, is truly an intriguing addition to the franchise as Lucasarts really went all out with this one. Havok, Pixelux Entertainment and NaturalMotion had all licenced out their technologies during developmen...

Ever since I first heard word of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, the Star Wars geek inside me could not help but be over-the-top excited for what looked to be the best Star Wars game in a very, very, long time. And overall, it does not dissapoint. There are weaknesses, but those weaknesses are not so overbearing that they detract from the overall experience. Any Star Wars fan will love everything about this game. The Farce Unleashed 0

With a very promising concept, a presumably gargantuan budget and a great license, it’s hard to see how Lucasarts could possibly fail with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. On paper it seems like the epitome of Star Wars games, yet somehow, it falls a little short. The Force Unleashed takes place right in the middle of the two trilogies (the good movies and the not-so-good movies). The player takes the role Starkiller, a Sith apprentice who after being adopted by Lord Vader becomes a secret agent ...

Story Can't Completely Rescue Gameplay Flaws 0

Let me preface this review by saying that I own almost every Star Wars game ever made.  I own the good (Jedi Knight), the bad (Yoda Stories) and the ugly (Episode I).  I've played them all, good or bad.  The problem with many of the Star Wars games from the past is that they did not expand the universe in interesting ways that meshed well with the canon.  I can think of several examples that did (TIE Fighter, Bounty Hunter) and MANY examples that did not (Battlefront I and II, Rogue Squadron), o...

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Hoth Mission Pack is okay I suppose. The fact that you're playing in Echo Base brings me back to the nostalgic days of smiting Wampas in the old Shadows of the Empire game on Nintendo 64 but alas this DLC add-one (despite it's bells and whistles) just kind of lacks what a lot of people look for in DLC's which is:(1) Longer, richer campaign/multiplayer value experience(2) Achievements(3) Kind'a going along with (1)/ a few more hours of gameplay... but still with -ta...

Having played the Hoth installment DLC first I must say I'm rather glad I played them out of order. This (1st) DLC had a fun (if be it) short level which was still rather entertaining and (in my opinion) much better than the Hoth installment. There are areas that seem a bit bland/repetitive such as the tunnels beneath Jabba's Palace. The Gamorrean Guards are (or at least seem) a little tougher than some of the other enemies you fight through the actual game campaign which makes it kind of fun to...

    The Force Moderately Leashed 0

Star Wars is arguably more entrenched in nerd culture than even video games. However, the seemingly no-brainer marriage of the two has notoriously been met with mixed results. The Force Unleashed is trying to change that by being the first good game from the franchise since Knights of the Old Republic. The end result is a combination of the best implementation of force powers in a game to date mixed with some of the same issues that have bogged Jedi action games for years. While filling the robes...

Star Wars.  George Lucas' world that has seen more movies, books, games, comics, toys...etc. than any other IP on the planet.  Well it took Lucasarts long enough to put out a next gen Star Wars game.  It doesn't live up to its hype. That definately doesn't mean its a bad game.  The Force Unleashed takes place in the Star Wars story, between Return of the Jedi and The Phantom Menace.  You play as Darth Vader's secret apprentice who been trained by the dark lord since childhood.  Missions of cons...

It isn't my fault. They told me they'd fixed it!The Force Unleashed is not the best game ever made and the Euphoria, DMM and Havok systems aren't utilized to their best effect, instead they represent pockets of physics-fun sharply contrasted against the otherwise static backdrops, much like how the actors in Episode II stood out against the CGI-backdrops in all too many of it's scenes. There are also some camera issues and sound glitches and I've had the game completely freeze my 360 on one occa...

    Unleashed and Unwieldy 0

When first seeing demos for The Force Unleashed, I couldn't help but think it was just an excuse to fool around with a bunch of neat physics tools.  I mean, look at the base story for the game, especially in those early stages; you play as Darth Vader's "Secret" Apprentice, a character nowhere even HINTED at in the original trilogy or prequels.  The chances that this game was going to have a meaningful impact on the Star Wars universe were slim and none, so you can see how I arrived at this conc...

I have to admit. When I first heard about a new Star Wars game being developed, it didn’t really catch my attention. But the more I heard about it and especially after watching the “story trailer” I got suck into the hype, so I decided to see what happened between the lackluster Episode III and the classic Episode IV. Taking place during the time between Episode III and Episode IV (that's the end of the prequel series and the start of the first Star Wars trilogy), it seems that Darth Vader has had second thoughts on being the Emperor's best friend. While tracking down a rogue Jedi and keeping in check his padawan killing tendencies, he discovers a young boy strong in the Force whom he takes on as a secret apprentice. Codenamed 'Starkiller', he grows up under Vader's secret tutelage in the following years and ...

PlotWell most people know that you will play this game as Darth Vadar's secret apprentice,Code name:Star Killer. This game's story takes place between Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith and Episode 4: A New Hope. It aims to fill the gap in the 20 something years in between then. The game starts with the Empire attacking the Wookie planet (Not going to butcher the spelling because I don't know how to spell it). They are attacking still trying to hunt down the remaining Jedi. Ever since seeing the Force Unleashed first presented and through following its development I was quite excited by the game itself. I am not die hard SW fan, and would not give up any bodily parts just to speak to George Lucas but I always enjoyed the story as well as good Star Wars games (story for the Original Trilogy and games are the SW:KOTOR by BioWare). To get the biggest question out of the way: yes, The Force Unleashed is the best Star Wars game since Knights of the Old Republic and Jedi Knight 2, and I'd even rate it up there with the best of them. It's a smashing success in several key areas, but it's got some rough edges that bring the overall package down some. The premise behind TFU is that Darth Vader had a secret apprentice between episodes 3 and 4 who went around doing his dirty work, mostly exterminating Jedi and all the hapless Storm...

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed from the damned Lucas Arts game studio attempts to capture the imagination with the most dynamic force system seen in a Star Wars title, coupled with an engaging story.   The game begins with the player controlling Darth Vader as he wreaks havoc on Kashyyyk, taking full advantage of the euphoria physics implemented in this game.  From here on, gamers experience the universe through the eyes of Starkiller, a previously unrevealed apprentice of Darth Vader.  Stark...

Alright, time to review another game I just bought.  The latest game to come out of Lucasarts studio is not perfect by any means, but it doesn't really seem to deserve the bad rap it usually gets.  Many issues seem to be fabricated in the reviews others have put out.  (I mean, really?  Some later enemies are force-resistant? Star Wars The Force Unleashed is an action game where you play as Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice. The Games story takes place between Episode 3 and 4, and is considered Cannon by Lucas himself. So what you are playing ties very heavily into the Star Wars mythos. The game opens with you actually playing the Dark Lord of the Sith himself. And this is pretty fun, you are as bad ass as you think you should be. Tearing through enemies is satisfying, and awesome. After that and until the end of ...
