This is getting absurd. Wouldn't the right thing be having gay romance everywhere, instead of segregating it to a specific planet? This is basically the gaming equivalent of negro water fountains.
Also, are homosexuals getting tired of Bioware's shenanigans? I would imagine so.
A bit sensationalist, sounds like limited resources and a desperation to get free to play working means they can't attribute the staff to creating decent same sex romances so they've written some in to a newer area.
It does seem like a loose - loose situation, a poorly written Same Sex Relationship would of drawn ire and this alternative doesn't do credit either.
The whole of ToR sounds like its in a bad way.

- WTF? They're segregating people by sexual orientation?
Reality:
- Bioware is adding same-sex content to the game and this one planet is just the start.

Yup. Seems like an attempt to get people pissed off.

This seems more like they're only allowing certain dialogue options on that planet. Kind of like they're separating it from the rest of the game so straight gamers don't have to sully their pure eyes with that filth.
It's kind of shitty.

This seems like the logical conclusion. No one at bioware is stupid enough to think it's a good idea to segregate same sex relationships from the rest of the game.
Homosexuality is generally more integrated than "everyone in one location is gay and nowhere else."Knee-jerk reaction:

It sounds pretty bad when you read it like this, but I think they are just saying "hey, you didnt buy enough of our game and we dont have money to put actual resources on this thing you want, so here is something to shut you up that doesnt cost much to make". It would have been better to just not do it in my opinion.@TheSouthernDandy said:

No, this is a matter of development time and resources. They want to add homosexual options and they are working on adding a new planet to the game. Obviously that planet is going to be the first place those options are going to be implemented because they can integrate them with their regular development flow.
What he said. Bioware has already included same sex stuff in previous games its not like this is new territory. Unless more info comes out to the contrary this reads like a shitty attempt to stir people up.@notdavid said:

And this is how stories get taken out of context and emotionally charged on the internet. Congratulations

I don't understand why Bioware insists on injecting sexuality into it's games, everyone I ever knew that played MMOs seriously (or any game for that matter) did it as an escape/break from real life, who's secret escape is "Gay Planet"? Nobody. No straight people want to pretend to be gay other than to fuck with gay people and I can't imagine many gay people want to escape their gay real life to pretend to be gay.
Okay, I suggest everyone read the actual blog post on The Old Republic website. Whoever wrote this article was definitely just fishing for controversy and the title of this thread isn't doing it very many favors either.

They discussed it when they made the announcement, that adding gay relationships turned out to be more involved than they thought it was, so this new content will have gay characters on it while they continue to work on adding gay options to the rest of the game.
@Kidavenger: But most MMO's are interested in crafting an involved storyline and, more often than not, storylines involve romance. And it's purely optional so anyone that doesn't want to engage in it doesn't have to.

Pretty much what I was going to say. It certainly looks bad but I think it should have been on BioWare to get ahead of everyone on this and announce that it's not what people think it is. I highly doubt it's BioWare pulling a Jim Crow or something.
so the content is coming out for the new expansion for SWTOR and content is only available on the new planet. Seems a like a convenient way to make some mountains out of mole hills
Actually it's basically the gaming equivalent of how you can only ride dragons in Morrowind, but not the rest of Skyrim. This is basically the gaming equivalent of negro water fountains.

It baffles me that a company that mainly wants profit, is catering to a minority that's even made smaller since it's video games we're talking about.
1. It brings some media attention to a otherwise dieing game
2. It is delivering on a previously made promise towards the community
3. It promotes bio ware's ideological standpoint even if George is against it
4. Why not? They were making a new planet anyway and this at least gives it a unique theme to encourage people to spend real money to access the content in this otherwise F2P game
The best part about this is you have to pay real money to be allowed on the gay planet.
I like to refer to this as P2G or Pay to Gay.
This is pretty hilarious.
Obviously, the way the game is set up and structured means that adding in a new area (or planet) is the easiest way to add new content like this. They want F2P players to have to purchase their way into new content and adding new NPC's and such else where will conflict with other ingame quests and what naught.. but geez, does this just seem like another failure for this game or what? Everything about it seems so badly designed and they just seem to be piling more and more onto the fire, rather than trying to put any of it out.
Yes, the one game developer to really give players the possibility of gay romances is definitely bigoted.
Idiots.

This is only the first step in EA's inevitable domination of the sexuality-based pseudo-rpg genre, to be followed by Mass Effect 4's furry galaxy and Dragon Age 3's Guild of Child Pornographers.
This is sure a troubling post.
People getting angry about nothing, makes sense it's not like every country allows gay marriage so why should every planet in Star Wars. Makes it more believable.
