In the wake of the treaty, the Republic's military began an active recruitment campaign from within its own ranks in order to create a cutting edge group of Special Forces units for the inevitable day when war erupted between the Republic and the Sith Empire once more. The members of these advanced strike teams consisted of only the most talented as well as disciplined soldiers which created a new breed of elite soldiers within the Republic. Such troopers became the embodiment of the Republic's military aspirations naming creating the most advanced fighting force in the galaxy. As such, they were equipped to face a variety of foes in any environment.

Despite this being the case, it was not their equipment that made them tough but rather their courage. Their greatest weapons were their indomitable spirits as well as their unwavering sense of duty and their undying loyalty to the ideals of the Republic. These troopers were in an age where the stakes were high as the Republic either had to win or face extinction. This made the fate of the galaxy fall upon the shoulders of ordinary men who could become heroes.

In the past, the Knights of the Jedi Order defended the Republic for generations though they never fought alone, as a host of heroes often marched at their side. Their actions had not gone unappreciated by the Jedi who awarded these brave men and women of the Republic's military complete respect as well as admiration. In this age, however, the Jedi had withdrawn in large numbers to their home world of Tython. Whilst their presence within the Republic was still significant, it was not the level that was present during the war. This meant that in many ways the Republic troopers had stepped up and taken the duty of protecting the Republic. However, on those occasions when a trooper partnered with a Jedi, they were noted as being a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield
