don't like MMO's, this is plain and simply a MMO in every way.
There is nothing here to change your mind. Voice acting will not make you like a game, if they did, Alpha Protocol would have been liked better.
You still run a ton of quests, and in the end, the story for the side quests...dont matter much. After 20 hours game play and moving along in the main story, that is very cool btw, you will not remember or care about some random side quest you came across as you where doing your main quest line.
You get this game and you tried MMO's before and did not like it, you wont care for this, you will buy it, and then come here posting about how you dont like the game.
But if you do enjoy MMO's and the gameplay that it MMO's are known to have, you will love this game, very polished, maybe not as "open" as some other MMO's but still very nice to look at.
The combat is the same as you would think. No big changes from most other mmos. The good bad system is a interesting way to diverse the gear more so then normal.
The classes are the same for both sides. Just look diff. This is NOT a bad thing. Balance is easier for them. The Sniper has Snipe, the Gunslinger has Charged blast. (ok i may have forgot the name of that skill but think thats it) Same effect same damage. So 8 true classes.
But..they all have COMPLETELY diff story lines. Sooo...yeah lots of reading or playing depending on your choice of if you really want to play every class.
I find this game to be just what i though it would be, a very well polished MMO, but not much else. Other then a nagging thought in the back of my head, everything they have in the game right now, is set in stone, there is no changing the quests around with out getting more VO in there. And voice actors are not cheap....will we get free quests? :/ how much voice is saved for the future? They said they have a 10 year plan i guess? So...heres hoping, the people that do stick around have years of enjoyment and fun a head of them.
Me ignoring the bugs, as there are a few minor ones left in beta no big deal, i highly suggest you get this game at least for the first month, if you like MMO's. You will enjoy it. It may not take you out of WoW if you are heavly invested in that game, but it may take you way from most other MMO's. Get it for the first month, enjoy it see if you want to stick around. Or better yet, if your not in a big hurry to try it out, wait 3 or so months till you get it. Will get way more feed back after 3 months.
But if you dont like MMO's. Just flat out don't get it. There is the same quest system as every other MMO out there, if you hated running around killing rats or bears for there skin, you will still hate running around killing solders for a key card.
There are MMO rats in this game, they are just not in a rat model, maybe a weird alien model.
Just keep in mind, if you buy this game and did not like MMO's before, this wont make you like MMO's, you have been warned, so dont come crying here when you dont like the game. Thanks! :D
As for me...I'll have a Darth Malgus trying to beat up Batman on top of my 360 in a few weeks....
