Having /dance won't make it the best MMO ever. This thread is dumb.

I think the voice acting will make people care about quests instead of pressing the quest giver and saying "Accept".

But as it is from lucasarts, it will end being more expensive than a lap dance...

So it won't be the best mmo.

But every mmo has /dance, so surely it can't be the best on the merit that it has /dance.

I tend to disagree, but it's more because I read a lot faster than I hear :) What sets SWTOR most apart is its reliance on one's own Hero's Journey through their own personal story. Where most MMOs are merely about optimizing one's character with friends, SWTOR feels more like an actual RPG, along the lines of an Oblivion or Mass Effect, than a WoW or EQ2. Bioware's promise of actual decision-making is what makes a personal journey more palpable than the choices we make in other games between whether to do a quest or, well, to log out instead.

If they can do that AND voiceact the whole game, great! But voice-acting is expensive enough in ONE language (much less other markets) that I hope resources aren't being diverted away from developing other content that's far more important. Inevitably I see this going just like EQ2: launch with full voice acting (which they did, so SWTOR is not a first) and then immediately stop because the rate you need to release new content far outpaces your ability to record voice for all of it.

And yea, /dance won't make or break it. In fact, "dancing Wookiees" was not a good label for SWG :)
