How about Lucasarts makes A SEQUEL TO REPUBLIC COMMANDO
OR FINISH BATTLEFRONT 3
Star Wars games people actually care about, not the mary sue fanfiction bullshit that is Force Unleashed
Star Wars
Star Wars is a space fantasy film franchise that initially told the tale of Luke Skywalker and a rebellion's struggle against the evil Galactic Empire. It has spawned over one hundred games, six sequels/prequels and at least millions of different shirts, action figures and other merchandise.
LucasArts Should Hire This Man
Sooo...
it's a game that runs on a wall.
Because the touch interface is cool and all, but it has the same problem any other touch interface has: size. Hands are big. Fingers are big. On a wall, it totally works. On an iPad, it kind of does what it needs to do. On an iPhone, it's a mess.
And if we turned it into a mouse based game, which is totally feasible, we have this game already. It's an RTS with a pretty interface. Which I aprove of, but the second coming it isn't. Homeworld did this better. In 3D.
I think Lucasarts know people only care about Jedi Knight, Tie Fighter, and Battlefront yet they are stuck on this mission to find the perfect money maker. SWG NGE wasn't it. TFU, nope. Star Wars Kinect? Dear God. Maybe they're finally see the error of their ways after so many failures.
I appreciate all the content but a fair bit of the stories updated to the site are kind of pointless. I mean of course someone is working on touchscreen stuff out there and not just one person thousands of people are playing around with these technologies. With that in mind this story just kinda seems bland and pointless.
I mean maybe if the game he showed off was something new and flashy I could see the point for this, but as is this is just Empire at War without any of the depth of that, to be completely honest, mediocre game.
A Star Wars game without lightsabers is the SW game I knew I never wanted. Cool project (being nice) though. Zero interest from me though.
I'm not that into the Star Wars universe anymore. I mean I still love it on some level, but there are better scifi universes out there.
Sometimes these things are impressive just as proof of concept. We all know why Starcraft, or more to the point, Homeworld, aren't for Kinect.
1st gen controls are always horrible. Eventually enough developers bang their head against the concept to make it serviceable, just like they did for console FPS games.
I feel incredibly nerdy for recognizing the Discs of Tron music from Kingdom Hearts II.
But all this is awesomesauce. Give this man a job!
You had me at enterprise, you lost me at first four films. ( I find that I really only like TNG as far as Star Trek is concerned).
I want to play Fleet Commander though!
Imagine how much more efficient a keyboard and mouse would be for moving around and controlling so many ships at once. Much better than a bunch of people standing in the way and the added slowness of having to move around one's body and arms at least.I've actually always found using a mouse in these sorts of games inefficient. I'd much rather be able to touch things and point where I want them. I mean, I'm good with a mouse but my arms and hands are way better.
Wow. Look at all those Star Destroyers.
I'm surprised LucasArts didn't sue him after seeing this video.
AI War: Fleet Command is pretty good at reproducing the scale of space battles, but the graphics will turn some folks off. The AI in this game is a pretty challenging too. It could work well with touch-controls.
That's a pretty big touchscreen interface, looks like multiple screens patched together covering the entire wall. I can't understand why one prefer a mouse and keyboard to something like this. We're finally getting close to having touch interfaced everywhere just like in Star Trek:TNG.

Try spending two hours straight moving post-it notes around a wall. Then compare it to two hours doing anything with a mouse. It's a bit too much like hard work =P
Touch is nice n' all, but I have yet to see anything that feels ergonomically feasible to use for working any length of time.

We've had that kind of technology for at least 5-10. But it's still prohibitively expensive for basically anyone but the extremely wealthy to have in their own home. This is usually why you see these kinds of surfaces only on TV or at trade shows.
This is stupid. Why the hell would anybody want to flail their arms
around against a wall for hours on end? That isn't comfortable.
What's next Aldous Huxley's escalator tennis?
Fuckin' Star Wars is boring. Why is anyone even focusing on that
old-ass dying genre? It's played out & they really need to let it sit
quiet for a few decades so that newer, fresher material can prevail.
@pornstorestiffi said:Yeah looks so much like it. But sadly it wasn't. So guess i will have to settle on Gratuitous Tank Battles when that comes out.All this does it make me want a Gratuitous Space Battles game with a Star Wars skin. That's what I thought this was at first.

Pass on what? Are you hiring?

Affordability in the typical home is pretty much required for society to "have" a technology or "be at" a technological point. Also, Jed said everywhere.
