Isn't the beta shutdown already?

No. I'm playing it right now.

Is the beta open now?  Is it just like a demo?  I abandoned PC gaming years ago, but I want me some more Starcraft, I'm just not sure my PC can run it.  Hoping to find out before purchasing.

To clear up confusion: 
-Yes the beta has started again, I don't think it's open to everyone yet though.
-AI has been added, interface changes have been made, and a co-op mode is among the new stuff in this phase of the beta. Oh, and ofcourse balance changes have also been put into effect.
-I think specs have been released for the beta awhile ago, check out the blizzard forums.
-The beta will end about a week before launch of the game.

....  But I uninstalled the Beta back when it ended, and I don't feel like reloading again.

Stalorne 994, right now I'm high silver but was high gold before the last phase ended.

Feel free to throw an invite or two my way if you ever see me on. Can't seem to catch most of my RL friends online so I end up just doing laddering and can't get much in the way of practice matches in.
