I've beaten the single player game, and now want to approach online versus play, but feel really nervous about doing so. I want to get good practice as well as a bit of mentoring with how I play. I'm not looking for anyone pro, just someone who is a knowledgable player to help me get my feet off the ground.
StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty
Game » consists of 10 releases. Released Jul 27, 2010
The first chapter in the StarCraft II trilogy focuses on the struggles of the Terran race, as seen through the eyes of Commander Jim Raynor, leader of the rebel group Raynor's Raiders.
Looking for a Mentorish person to play with
Any particular race you want to play?
I am most knowledgeable in Protoss, I am in Diamond, so if you wanted some protoss pointers I could help you out.
Well I mean, right now any race appeals to me since I'm noob.
What times are you on? If it lines up with my schedule I don't mind imparting some diamond league random player insight.
I guess I could help with basic Terran. DexterMorgan #338 on NA. So at the very least I could use people to practice with.
I was close to platinum before the ladder reset, and then I stopped playing for a few months (blame Halo: Reach). Though Starjeweled brought me back!
The most important thing for a beginner is to learn how to use the keyboard, hotkeys, control groups, the likes. Don't even think about strategies before you do that. If you were to learn how to play tennis, first you'd be shown HOW to swing the racket, not WHERE you should place the ball. I see too many people trying to approach SC2 this way, they want to know how to 4 gate, how to stop 4 gate, how to cheese, and end up skipping the basics. And yes, you're better off playing with friends while you learn the basics than throwing yourself at ladder, where you'll get cheesed a lot on Bronze league.

Costello.128 on NA servers."
I actually learned the basics as I went and focused more on broad execution stuff. Though, my way of learning is typically to learn everything at once, so idk. Also, my time with WC3 could have had something to do with it.
That said, I'd be wiling to do what I can to help some people learn and get better. I'm a mid-high level diamond random player. YIOrange #135 if you're interested.
Also if anyone wants help with zerg I can try to help but you're really better off watching Day 9 if you're just starting out.

Man, this community makes SC2 all the more welcoming. Thank you guys! I'll probably add just about everyone here cause you're all so cool.
@moztacular:
I need to learn me some zerg as I fumble around learning the terran.
I might hit you up for some matches later tonight when I get home for some ZvZ so I can learn zerg.
