I assume blogging about anything game related is alright so why not mention what I am currently trying to accomplish.  How in the hell do I get any practice playing in the StarCraft 2 beta if I get me ass kicked in 2 seconds repeatedly???

Watch replays. You can learn a lot by seeing how the pros use each unit, what works well against what, etc. Also, eventually, the matchmaking will match you up with people who are at the same skill level, though it could take some time. 
 
When the full game is released, I'm sure the matchmaking will work better, and they'll be those challenges to help you improve. You can also, at that point, practice against AI.

Stop posting on here and watch the HDH Invitational....it's pros in action and done by decent commentators who can explain stuff for new comers. 
 
Look up HuskyStarcraft and HDStarcraft, they are doing the same games together but upload different games.
