So I haven't played Starcraft since February (when I was in bronze) and logged back in for the first time today. Since I hadn't played for so long and the ladder has been reset, I played my 5 placement matches. I beat the first two fairly easily, and just scraped by on the third .But on my fourth I was playing against IdrA who I recognised from one of the TNTS. He destroyed me pretty quickly. At this point I was thinking that I might get into silver and was pretty chuffed. Last match was against a platinum player who I'm sure would've quite easily beat me but he quit less than a minute in.

And suddenly I'm in Platinum getting my ass handed to me pretty much every game.

How long might it take till I get moved down to gold and have a fighting chance?

Also you where not playing aginst the real idra he only plays on the korean server since well lets face it the American starcraft 2 ladder is pretty poor 

Considering Idra's probably in Grandmaster, I doubt you played him since it didn't have EG in the name (his team). I played a Fenix once, but I sincerely doubt it was the pro Fenix.

In any case, that kinda blows. As far as being moved down... word is that it can take some time. Then again, getting your ass kicked is usually a good opportunity to learn from mistakes. In a not fun way.

I was  misplaced into Gold league in the first season. It took a good 25 straight losses or so before i finally landed at the bottom of the bronze pile where i belonged. I was kind of bummed out about losing all the time so i took me a few months to get all those loses. Shouldn't take too long though. Even if you don't get demoted your MMR will go down enough that you'll be playing much lower ranked players soon anyway.

Just keep playing. You'll be playing people your level and getting around a 50% win rate pretty fast. It might take a bit longer for you to move leagues, but that stuff doesn't really matter anyway.

dont worry bout it. after you lose somw youll be playing people from lower leagues anyway.

Time to level up man fast Or your gonna have a shitty time.

just forfeit a bunch of games. SC2 doesn't show a 'games lost' tally for anyone below Masters.

dude i hadnt played in months got on and placed into gold. i was getting wrecked and it wouldnt drop me. now im doing ok in gold league.
im about 50%...
except one small thing... i get bored picking protoss each game so i pick random sometimes.... then i lose..... :'(

It probably won't be too long before you get "reassigned". If you really are getting wrecked in your current league, the system should fix it soon enough. Just make sure to keep playing games, you can't get demoted unless you play. Sucks how broken the placement system can be sometimes. :|

or you can play custom matches until you get to platinum level, i also recommend playing the [macro or die] user maps against AI 1v1, if you just learn to macro, you'll be fine in plat

Look at it this way; you've been given the opportunity to study platinum players 1st hand, just play them, loose, watch the replays, and you can learn build orders and so on.

Don´t play much late in the night or at dawn. The others players are more difficult in these periods of day.

I haven't played since December. I logged in yesterday confused about these "seasons" I was unaware to the changes made to the multiplayer system. I was a pretty decent platinum player but now I qualified for silver and I don't feel comfortable at all. Hang it there duder.

Or you could just bomb your MMR down to bronze and get a fresh start. :)

I got placed in Platinum myself recently, after winning 4 placement matches against unranked players and losing my last one against aGold player. What an excellent matchmaking system Blizzard has devised! I've been logging in once every few days to lose a couple of matches, but it's been anything but a fun experience. I'm quite new to 1v1 and this is not how I envisioned learning to play.
