Overview
Based on the 1994 film (starring Kurt Russel), Stargate involves a team of adventurers traveling through an ancient ring device, known as the Stargate, which creates a stable wormhole to hundreds of other worlds. There was then a television series, Stargate SG-1, which continued the story of the movie and went on for ten seasons. The spin off, Stargate Atlantis, was created in 2004 and was dropped in its fifth season. A third series, Stargate Universe lasted for 2 seasons until its cancellation due to mixed reviews and poor viewership figures. There have been two Direct-to-DVD films for SG-1; The Ark of Truth, which finished the Ori story arc, and Continuum, which ended the story arc regarding the clones of the system lord Baal. A third movie, named Extinction, was planned, but was shelved indefinitely following Stargate Universe's cancellation according to executive producer Joseph Mallozi.

An MMORPG which would have allowed players to create a character in the Stargate universe, and travel to other worlds to fight the opposing alliance. Its combat system featured a unique real time cover system, as well as mini-games to complete tasks. SGW was in development for a 2009 release but was delayed due to problems with MGM funding among other things, and has now been canceled. Very few assets for the game were ever released.
A spin off of Stargate Worlds which was originally conceived to assist with funding for that game. Stargate Resistance was a third person shooter set in the second decade of the Stargate program which allows players to battle as either Stargate command or the Goa'uld. Stargate Resistance's servers were shut down one year after its release due to the end of a license with MGM, leaving copies of the game useless.
