So I'm totally broke and in search of cheap PC games preferably through Steam. Any recommendations?
I'm playing on a laptop with relatively low specs at the moment.

Half-life 2. If that's too high-specced, Torchlight, if that's too high specced, Prince of Persia games, if they are too high specced, KOTOR, if that's too high specced, Braid, if that's too high specced, pull the trigger.

Edit: Oh, and Max Payne is $9.99 now, too.

Steam has awesome deals regularly, so be on the lookout for those. I enjoyed both Freedom Force games.

I can run Torchlight and KOTOR as a point of reference for where my specs are at, but those are probably the highest things I've tried. I probably wouldn't be able to play anything higher specced than that.

    • Audiosurf
    • Ben There Dan That and Time Gentlemen Please!
    • KOTOR

    • Puzzle Quest

Actually, Braid seems to run pretty badly on my computer, whereas torchlight and HL2 are fine.  Ditto on the choices though.  I'd also pick up Trine if they drop the price, and add on original Doom as the game of last resort.
