Steam

Concept »

Steam is a digital distribution service owned by Valve. Originally created to distribute its own games, Steam has since expanded to become the de facto standard for digital distribution of PC games, and supports community features, downloadable content and achievements. Starting 2010, Steam now offers Mac games as well.

For a while, Valve has always been my favorite game developer. So I thought it would benefit me to download Steam.

I was snooping around to see what Steam had to offer, and I found the original Half-Life. I have not played that game in many years, and I remember enjoying it. I didn't think $10 was so bad so I downloaded it. The download wasn't so bad, about 5 minutes for the whole game to download and I just got done playing it for 2 hours. I'm really look forward to usuing it again, but before I do that, I need to get more RAM for my computer, I'm barely running Half-Life as it is. Plus I have over 30gb of stuff on iTunes.

Is there games I should defiantly get on Steam once I get my computer upgraded?

left 4 dead is a must. and i hear it's only 40$ over steam. (btw: you just missed the 10th year anniversary of half life, when valve was selling half life for $0.99 on steam...)

I have Left 4 Dead for my 360 already, so I doubt I'll buy it again. Oh well, at least I still got it. But it would have been nice to get it for $0.99

Half-Life 2 and the episodes if you don't already have it, obviously.

TF2 is awesome on steam, absolutely incredible. You must buy that.

From what I hear, TF2 on the 360 doesn't compare at all to the PC. Even if you could play it on the 360, buy it on the PC just so you can see how awesome it is.

I know, but I got TOB on my 360. TF2 would never run on my computer. But once I upgrade my computer, I might get it off Steam.

HL is still definitely worth the 10$ I'd say for sure, it just sucks you didn't do this like a week ago,  could of got it for 98 cents :P. I think honestly L4D and TF2 could run fine, unless you have like the worst computer ever made from like 6+ years ago, with just lower settings.

What about Counter Strike? Should I get the original, or CS:S

Opt for CS:S, my friend.  There are a lot more mods for it and it has better graphics.

Gotcha. After I buy the Aperture Labs posters, that will be the first thing I buy.

If you can run CSS well, you *might* be able to run TF2. If you can run TF2 well, then you might be able to run L4D.

Either way, get those three games. I have to be honest and include that the TF2 community is sort of dying out, many people have moved onto L4D, but there still are plenty of servers and players.

Oh, and you must play Half Life 2. And the Episodes. And Portal.

Damn you people! Get Portal obviously!
