I'm asking this because Steam is having a huge sale this whole week, which is apparently annihilating the whole nation's download speed.

I'm currently downloading Resident Evil 5 and getting between 40 and 700 kb/sec, depending on the second. I think it has about eight hours to go...

Aw, man. This is frustrating. From 50 kb to 1000 kb, then back down to 0. Now I'm back at 448 again, after finding a decent server.

I don't want hills in my downloads

1MB per sec at this very moment. Got Left 4 Dead 2 and the Introversion pack cheap.
This is in Europe, for what it's worth.

If your downloads are going slow, try another server. You can change the server in the downloads tab of the settings. Mine was going at a snail's pace, but I tried a couple of different servers and found one going at a decent speed.

800KB/s - 1.2MB/s, same as ever. I'm in the UK if that means anything.

@MattyFTM: Hell yeah! Took a few tries, went through Chicago and New York before I got lucky with... Montreal? I'm getting between 750 and 1,500 at the minute. Thanks for the tip!

@Hitchenson: In the US there's a big ol' fourth of July sale goin' on. It's killing the servers here. Hmmm... maybe I should just try a UK server.

Everyone has different download speeds, so I don't see the point of this poll.

@FunExplosions: The Summer sale? Yeah, we've got that here as well. It's amazing.

I've nothing to do, so I decided to cap my Steam page, why? I don't know really.

I've been downloading between 1.5-2.5 mb as usual. Just try other servers or wait until there aren't 2 million people on steam as I'm sure there are a crapload of people downloading stuff.

Dammit. What server are you using? I had a good speed at Montreal for awhile, but then it dipped back to 0. Won't even give me a connection now.

So are people talking about bits or bytes? Usually a lowercase 'b' implies bits which makes sense for 2.5 Mb/s, but would be surprising for 60 Kb/s.

I usually download from Phoenix but it was slowing down, restarted with Los Angeles servers and things have been full speed so far.

I've been downloading from the L.A. area and haven't had any problem with download speed, but I have had several errors when I attempt to start downloading that go away after a few tries.

Going normal for me, anywhere from 100-500KB/s. Large gap, but it fluctuates a bit and tends to stick around one number for an hour or so. Peaks quite a bit at 500-550ish.

As of this typing, it's going around 240.

It's all over the place for me. When I'm on an ethernet connection, I can get usually betweek 1mb-1.6mbps. Now since most people are going crazy with getting a ton of games mine ranges from 600-1kbps. Really really slow at times.
