Starting today monday, Steam is having a huge sale on LucasArts games. Each day they'll offer a new game, starting with The Force Unleashed %75 off.
What do you think? Is this game worth getting for such a low price, or would it be better to wait for better games during the rest of the week?

30 gig though. Ouch. That's going to hammer my download allowance for the month. Bad times.
" Oh man, very tempted. £5 seems like a good price. How much better is the PC version? "It's actually a pretty bad port from what I've played.

" @ajamafalous said:You'll have to confirm this elsewhere since I just uninstalled it yesterday to make room for new music so I can't go back and check, but I seem to remember it being locked at 30 fps? Anyway, also a bunch of low-res textures and crazy object/texture pop-in. Also, can't remember if there were customizable graphics settings or not (again, confirm this somewhere else, may just be misremembering that part)." @AlisterCat said:In what way? I've got a GTX 275 and an i7 920, so the garbage textures and pop-in weren't just "maybe your computer sucks then."

" So which games do you think will be the deals for the rest of the week? I mean there aren't that many games that LucasArts made, besides the old adventure games of course. "Probably some of these.
I'm hoping for Republic Commando myself.

I have the game and it's a perfectly fine port. Well, apart from taking up 30 GBs on your hard drive, obviously. It ran great on my computer anyway (which is not a beast by any stretch), but sadly it just wasn't a very good game. It's absolutely awesome up to a point; I mean, the very first level lets you play as fucking Vader, for gods sake! It feels great slashing down storm troopers and using your force powers but it eventually just devolves into recycled fucking content over and over again.
It never changes up its style and the battles become more and more cumbersome and annoying to deal with, it has way too many platforming sections without ever feeling precise enough in the control department to justify them and the boss battles are all complete bullshit where you basically can't win without exploiting the game somehow.
I never finished it, but I must have been at least 3/4's in. It's such a shame too because this game could have been so great. The story is one of the coolest Star Wars stories written yet (better than all of the prequels combined) and goes to some really interesting places. It reveals shit that makes you think about the original movies in a different light, actually.
The first hour or two of the game had me convinced they had made the ultimate fucking Star Wars game, so it's not without remorse that I must recommend against buying this product.
Here's to hoping that the sequel does the job right!

now, iºm still a bit of a steam nublet, and i dont want to be a prick, but if they were going to have other star wars games from the pack in the sale, wouldnt that fluctuate the price of said pack all week, and fuck whoever bought it early?
although i guess if the TFU sale is only monday, that is already going to make the pack price fluctuate...hmm... like I said, im a steam nub.
Like some have said tho, it says lucasart sale, not star wars sale. Ím hoping for monkey island 1 and 2 special edition sales myself, and tales of monkey island, but then i remembered thats telltale, not lucas :(
" @Rhaknar: I imagine the price of the pack will remain the same, but the price of individual games may change daily. Then the only thing that would change are the "Individual price" and "You save" numbers, which isn't a big deal. "you are absolutely right, the pack is still the same price with TFU at 29.99, it just says you save more now. Fair enough.
Kotor for 2euros is incredibly nice especially since i never played it much on the xbox, but my friend tells me it has problemas running on win7, especially with the cut-scenes :(
" Hells yeah KOTOR for $2.50! "There is absolutely no excuse now. Everyone needs to buy and play this game if they haven't.
Today's deal is Empire at War. Is that something I should be interested in?
I'm not sure. I think I remember it getting rather mediocre reviews. Obviously it's hard to go wrong when you're only paying 5€ for it, but considering you just got the universally hailed KOTOR for less than half that price ..." Today's deal is Empire at War. OK, so today's sale is for Star Wars: Battlefront II, a game I know was very well recieved on the PS2 (and Battlefront 1 and 2 are games I've been planning on getting for my PS2). Does anybody know how good the PC port is compared to the PS2 version? Judging by the screen shots it looks a lot like a PS2 title.
At 4.50€ it isn't that much cheaper than the 5-6€ the PS2 version would cost, but I suppose some major benefits for the PC version would be the multiplayer and mod support (if there is any?).
I'm extremely disappointed, not because of the quality of the games (which is nothing stellar, to be honest, except for KotOR), but because of the lack of variety. LucasArts is more than Star Wars, believe it or not. I really hope they have an adventure game (better yet, a pack) prepared for tomorrow.
Be aware. If you bought empire at war. IT DOES NOT WORK. You gotta wait till steam get more Keys to play the game.
fuck, I didn't realize that before I bought it. I suppose that means it sold well at least, just hope it doesn't end up like Prey where they never got any more keys and just removed the game from the store altogether, or F.E.A.R. where they didn't get any more keys and just told the customers to go get the free keys for the F.E.A.R. Combat version, which was free for anybody in the first place, and didn't include the multiplayer parts of the expansions." Be aware. If you bought empire at war. IT DOES NOT WORK. You gotta wait till steam get more Keys to play the game. "
