I would like a game from steam (preferably from steam) thats 15$ or less. I would like it to be indie but thats not a requirement. I know there are many genres that could pop up and i will have to look at it case by case and report what i may like or not like about that so you guys could give me more solid choices.

BTW: the best idea i have come up with so far is THE WITCHER 1.

So my list of requirements, to be edited as i get ideas ans suggestions

-deep winding story that is awesome and engrossing, like a good book. make me go "Holy shit band-dango(random character), PORQUE!!!"

@Liber: i remember trying that out on my friends computer. It didnt seem to control comfortably on keyboard and track pad. The exact way i would play it. Would you mind commenting?

@FancySoapsMan: November 2000!!! im sorry to be ageist but does it still stand up mechanically. But on the other hand, i guess i can give the demo a shot.

@super2j: I finished Bastion with keyboard and mouse and I felt comfortable using it.

As for Witcher 1, I totally recommend this game, the story is great and the world is really interesting and quite different from any other RPG, and its 10$ on Steam.

    @super2j: It's a point-and-click adventure game so the controls shouldn't be a problem.

The puzzles can be confusing, but you can just use a guide (that's what I did).

@FengShuiGod: I actually have a copy of that somewhere along with morrow wind and daikatana (Note i got them all in 05, i didnt know anything about them and i was a teenager) the only one i really gave a shot was morrowwwind and i did the same thing i do in most open world games, run out and get lost in the world some where and never come back. And as for Deus ex. Remember in the quicklook throwback, how they were saying that a lot of ppl would get to some point in the first level and never get passed it and give up? i think that totally happened to me in 2006.

I would suggest you sell anything and all relating to sony/nintendo to appease the PC master race. You have gone astray for some time and are now just beginning to see the righteous path. Your re-education will require you to purchase the latest PC fps/rpg, as well as upgrade your hardware(requiring funds from sale of lesser "gaming" devices: all your consoles/handhelds/laptop.. trackpad.. shudder) to more compliant and respectable equipment(desktop PC).

I know the temptation of the lesser devices, I was once like you, but since I completed my re-education I was happy again! It will get better friend!

You will live in misery no longer grasshopper. Quicken your step, raise your head high, for today is the beginning of your life.

If you're hankering for a controller and your computer has Bluetooth 2.0+EDR then you can just get a PS3 controller and use that.

Dual shock 3 + DS3Tool + built in Xbox 360 Controller emulator = many games natively supported (all games supported with a few tweaks)

The Witcher, Mafia or Knights of the Old Republic. Can't go wrong with any of them, and you should really find time to play all of them.

Fuck, don't buy The Longest Journey. That game has adventure game conventions up the ass. I use it when describing how bad old adventure games are.

Now DREAMFALL: The Longest Journey. That game is fantastic. I played it recently, it's still great.

@nintendoeats: >_> But Longest Journey is a fantastic game if you don't mind those conventions. The puzzles are mostly good, except for a couple that had me stumped (may even only one, a certain item combination puzzle, fuck that one) and I'm not that great at adventure games.

Knights of the old republic probably has the most 'holy what the hell?!' factor out of all of the above for storytelling.

However, I would still highly recommend Bastion (the keyboard and mouse controls are fine, not sure about track pads though) and Brad if you've yet to play them.

I would also like to shoot down whoever suggested Alice: Madness returns. That's probably too recent and, frankly, a little dull. The story is interesting but divorced from the gameplay in such a way as to lack engagement and I hated the video-gamey-ness of the level design and the general repetition.

Grand Theft Auto: Complete Pack. It's on sale due to the Grand Theft Auto III 10 year anniversary. That's a lot of good stories for 15 Dollars (I think it's 15 Dollars, my prices are in Euros so I'm not sure).

    Either that, or The Witcher.

@nintendoeats: This has really caught my attention, i watched the review on gamespot, (dude named Greg Kasavin, wasn't he on Octoberkast???) and it looks like it has what i am looking for, but 20$ is above the 15$ thing, and i would rather wait until the end of the year steam sale to pick it up. Thanks tho, it looks pretty engaging and deep.
