Steam Community Market

The beta for the Steam Community Market came out today. At the moment it looks like you are only able to sell/buy consumable TF2 items (crates, keys, etc.) but I guess more games are going to take advantage of it next year. I hadn't heard about this until today, was it even announced?

Has anyone sold or bought anything yet? I listed my decal tool for five cents and it sold within seconds of going up.

So what you're saying is I can play Team Fortress 2, get items and sell them for monies? I'm going to go download TF2 now.

Exactly, although it looks like some items are going to be hard to sell. For example there are over 100,000 crates for sale and most of them only cost two cents, and I can't imagine there are a lot of people in the market to buy crates. I think my decal tool sold so fast because it was 35 cents cheaper than the rest of them and there are only around 400 listed. I hope in the future they allow people to sell weapons and hats, that's where the real money is.

I put Australium Gold on there for 1 dollar.

I'll be rich before I know it!

To use it you have to have recently bought something on steam....

I wonder if I'll sell any crates if I price them at 1$.

It's a bummer that you can only sell consumables. I would love to sell my vintage gear. I bet I could sell those at a high price.

Does it just go into your Steam wallet? Meaning you can only use the money to buy things on Steam?

@BoG: Sell them for bills and buds, sell those for keys, and sell the keys for cash.

@BoG: Yeah, with the amount of random people add me wanting to trade for Bill's Hat I could probably retire after selling it.
