For the summer sale I bought the THQ bundle pack but downloading each game is taking a long time. I have only gotten 3 games done (stalker, titan quest, and warhammer) but the download speed is about 80-90 kb/s i was wondering if any of you guys know how to speed this up? Other downloads I have done (not by steam though) have been about 600-800 kb/s.

For me it was slow last week but it's not slow now. I get 3 MB/s

Try changing your download location in the steam settings under the downloads tab.  http://store.steampowered.com/stats/content/ this is a map of all the steam content servers and their approximate load. If all else fails wait until july 5th to finish your downloads. 

Steam sale on = lots of purchases = lots of people downloading

Right now, i'm downloading both a demo (Fear 2) and a game (thief (it was only three dollars!)) and they are moving a bit slow.

But hey, when you start selling things 75-85% off, people start going nuts, and the more people that go nuts...

Lots of people downloading, sales attract lots of people.

Steam is getting hammered right now. You can't even start downloads during peak hours because too many people are already downloading.

thanks guys i should have figured that they where being very busy (this is only my first purchase from steam so i didn't know what to expect from speed) 
 
looks like i'll just wait on the rest and just be playing stalker in the mean time :)
