A digital distribution service owned by Valve Corporation. Originally created to distribute Valve's own games, Steam has since become the de facto standard for digital distribution of PC games.

At least thats what I thought when I saw this, while perusing the Steam store:

Don't worry, Steam survived, and made a quick recovery.

Arrowed for your convenience, does anyone know what happened here!? And I don't want anyone to give me any of that "It was probably just server downtime" crap.
I KNOW it was something more... something altogether SINISTER.

Yeah I saw the same thing and was curious about it. There's a similar but smaller dip the next day at about the same time.

    Pretty much this.
    There's nothing ominous about it.

@GunnBjorn: Of course there's something ominous about it! Steam are obviously using their "updates" to infect people's wireless networks, thereby taking control of all technology within their domiciles, and using that technology to kill the consumer and replace them with a replicant programmed by Steam to carry out their seemingly corporate bidding until they have created an army large enough to take over the world!

If you'll look further back, or keep an eye out for the next few days, you'll see this is common.
