Also Nuclear Dawn. It's a great game that more people should play.

Steam Holiday Sale 2011
@Brake said:
Bought Rock of Ages. I've been meaning to try that since the quick look.
I also bought that. I'm totally on board with it, especially for the price I bought it at, but I wish it gave a little bit more info in the tutorials. It's hard in such a fast-paced game, but it would've been nice to get an idea of how to position the various defenses. But then, for me, so far a lot of the game seems to come down to "oh god, hit the door 3 times as soon as humanly possible", because you need to come up with a hell of a good defense to significantly weaken the enemy boulder.
I have 50% of AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! - A Reckless Disregard for Gravity. 50% of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: Game of the Year Edition. 50% of any Valve game and two coal. Will trade for TF2 items
Does anyone think that Skyrim will got on sale again during the last day of the Holiday sale? Preferably 33% or more off. I didn't have enough cash to by it on the 25th.
@valrog:The people getting banned are people who bought hundreds of Humble indie bundles for £0.01 to get coal. This is the reason they had to make it so you need to pay at least $1 to get steam keys. If they used paypal to pay one cent for bundels the Humble bundle guys actually loses money due to paypals processing fees, so they are basically taking money from charities to cheat at a contest. They deserve to get banned.
Anyway, SpaceChem is on sale today. Get it if you like good challenging puzzle, especially if you like programming (or are interested in learning it) as you need to a similar thought process to solve the puzzles in that game. One of my favourite games this year. Be warned though the solutions can get very complicated.
While the Steam sale is always great, the biggest downside is, I have bought so much stuff that the sale is kind of useless to me now :(

Same for me. I've only bought 3 games this sale. A couple years back I bought over 40 and last year I bought a bunch as well. I literally have everything I want that is on Steam now. The only game I want still is Burnout Paradise but it hasn't been a daily deal.
@AhmadMetallic: You grew to like that at some speed. (DP already). It's fucking amazing. Sinking 5-10 hours into Deus Ex 1 earlier this year was toooooooootally worth it.
Universe Sandbox is pretty great. It's not a game, it's a space gravity simulator, but it's fun to put down a bunch of objects and see what happens or go into a simulation of our solar system and delete the sun just to watch all the planets and moons fly in different directions. I also spent some time creating a binary star system with some planets.
So far picked up, LFD2, Universe Sandbox, Metro 2033, Witcher 2, and might grab Deus Ex. I love steam sales

Pretty good sale this year
I wound up buying 5 games. Three I was looking for (Civ 5 GOTY, Magicka Collection, Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale) and two more I snatched up because they were on sale (Skyrim and Chantelise - A Tale of Two Sisters). While it's more than I had planned I am very please with my purchases.
Thanks to fellow duder @emergency, I was able to get Dead Island during the sale!
so in total, I got:
- Dead Island
- HOARD
- Orcs Must Die
- Puzzle Agent 1+2
- Defense Grid Awakening "You Monster" DLC
- S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat
- S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky
- Rainbow Six 3 Gold
- Rainbow Six Vegas
- Hard Reset
- Psychonauts
- Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale
- Renegade Ops (+ Coldstrike DLC)
- Rock of Ages
- Space Pirates and Zombies
I think that's a pretty sweet list! I'm glad I already had most of the other games that were on sale already 'cause I wouldn't have been able to afford all of them :D
Final purchase review:
- The Binding of Isaac
- Deus Ex: The Missing Link (plus Explosive Mission Pack)
- Magicka: The Stars are Left
- Bastion
- L.A. Noire: Complete Edition
- Portal 2
Probably spent around 30 bucks. Funny thing is I could have made all of my purchases on the last day of sales. Well, except for Isaac.
I just wish I didn't miss the Dead Space daily deals.

Bought a bunch of big name games and indie titles I had missed out on (and one I had already played but didn't own on Steam):

- Bulletstorm
- Deus Ex: Human Revolution
- Deus Ex: Human Revolution - The Missing Link
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
- Metro 2033
- Renegade Ops
- Rock of Ages
- Total War: Shogun 2
Between these games and Batman: Arkham City (which I still haven't started yet) I'm not gonna be short on entertainment for a very long time...
I keep a list of what I buy during each Steam mega sale, and this looks to be the final tally at the end of this one:
2011 Steam Christmas Sale
Who knows what the future may hold!
1. Costume Quest $3.74 | |
2. Rage $14.99 | |
3. Nuclear Dawn $4.99 | |
4. Alice: Madness Returns $7.49
5. Beat Hazard Complete $3.24
6. Star Wars: Republic Commando $2.49
7. L.A. Noire $12.49 | |
8. Deus Ex: Human Revolution $16.99 plus all DLC for $6.77
9. Bastion $5.09 |
I didn't buy much this sale. I picked up Sonic Generations (before the daily deal :/), DR2:OTR, BulletStorm and E.Y.E. That is about $50. Kinda more then I was expecting. I don't usually buy PC games for much money. Only one I bought day one was Portal 2 (and I got a gift-able version during this sale lol).
