Just buy everything you see below 5 dollars :P. In all seriousness though just buy what interests you, steam has so many games to choose from it's not hard to find something you'll like.

I second the STALKER games. Though if you do get Shadow of Chernobyl I would highly recommend the STALKER complete mod , others might say you should play vanilla the first time through, but I'm not sure I agree.
