A couple old favorites, some pile of shame and random cheapies. And one evil thing that scares the shit out of me.

  • Burnout Paradise
  • Just Cause Collection
  • FTL
  • Fly'N
  • Strike Suit Infinity
  • Thomas Was Alone
  • Dyad
  • Bully
  • GTA Complete
  • Dishonored
  • Dark Souls: PREPARE TO DIE ONE MILLION FUCKING TIMES Edition

Sad that Kentucky Route Zero wasn't picked/never got a big discount, even more sad that anybody at all voted for Dragon's Lair (though not surprised, it was Greenlit extraordinarily quickly). Overall spent a lot more than I was expecting to for this sale, but very happy with what came of it. Now I just need to cut down on the already small amount of sleep I get in order to play all these games.

Purchased (linked games are currently at paid price):

TitlePrice
McPixel$0.99
Defiance Standard Edition$13.59
Tomb Raider$12.49
Deadlight$3.74
Super Sanctum TD$0.99
Castle Crashers (w/ DLC)$4.22
Sleeping Dogs: Nightmare in North Point$1.74
Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition$8.99
Bully: Scholarship Edition$3.74
Worms Revolution$3.74
Strike Suit Zero$2.99
Just Cause$0.27
Sid Meier's Civilization V: Gold Edition Upgrade$5.00
A.R.E.S.: Extinction Agenda$2.49
Analogue: A Hate Story$3.39
Magical Drop V$1.24
Jack Lumber$2.24

Total spent: $71.85

I'd also totally pick up Omerta, Chivalry and Front Mission Evolved if I thought I'd get around to playing them before another sale. As for my recommendations: Buy McPixel, stay as far away from Deadlight as possible, and Worms Revolution is fun but manages to still run like crap on a 2500k i5 and a 7870.

Try out the demos for A.R.E.S. (action platformer, reminiscent of MegaMan) and Analogue: A Hate Story (mystery visual novel), see if you like them!

@winsord: Like I said earlier in the thread that image they used for KRZ was a really poor choice during the voting, I voted for KRZ but I didn't even know it was that until I clicked on it.

Yeah, I'd be interested to know how much of an effect that had on it. It only lost by something like 2% right? Oh well, there's always next time. It'd be nice to get it after all of the episodes are already out, anyways.

Dragon's Lair won? Nu-uh. Not really feeling the deals lately. Haven't bought anything in days. Borderlands 2 has be on sale like, 20 times.

Yeah, I kinda think that any Daily Deal just shouldn't be a Flash Sale or Community Choice. Once something is a Daily Deal, you have 48 fucking hours to buy it. How hard is it to make it to a computer during that time? I really wish way more smaller games were promoted by the Flash Sale and Community Choice, instead of bringing back Skyrim for the 15th time.

But people continue to love loot games, so Borderlands 2 and Torchlight 2 both crushed it in the community choice polls, even though they were clearly going to be on sale at other times as well.

I know some of you guys are bummed that Kentucky Route Zero lost that poll earlier, but even without that, it's still 25% off. It's shaping up to be an amazing game, and getting it for $18.74 (instead of $24.99) is still a pretty good deal.

Last day pickups. These are like less than $2. Been wanting these ever since I saw the quicklooks but so it's time to finally pick 'em up.

They Bleed Pixels
Cthulu Saves the Wolrd + Breath of Fire
No Time To Explain
Half Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax (No idea what SMNClimax is but the original was quicklooked and looked pretty neat)
Thomas Was Alone
McPixel
Super House of Dead Ninjas

Also picking up:

Time Gentlemen, Please!
NightSky
Abe's Oddysee

Total: ~$20 (man this stuff adds up quickly)

Also eyeing Cart Life, Civ 3 Complete edition and Fallout 2.

It's been a very good sale for me. Here's my haul:

  • Tomb Raider
  • Far Cry 3
  • Far Cry 2 (price was cut to €2,5)
  • Sleeping Dogs (+ the expansion type DLCs)
  • Dark Souls
  • Chivalry
  • Just Cause 2
  • Euro Truck Simulator 2
  • Hitman Absolution
  • Poker Night 1 and 2
  • System Shock 2
  • Serious Sam 3 BFE
  • Dragon Age Origins Ultimate (already own it on 360 but never got around to the DLC, getting it this way is actually cheaper)
  • Surgeon Simulator 2013
  • Bastion
  • Bully: Scolarship Edition

At this point I was still within my budget of €115. Then I read this, finally broke down and got Skyrim Legendary Edition. Already own it on the 360 and have played it to full completion but I never got the Dragonborn DLC and Legendary was mariginally more expensive and well... it's barely the same game on PC with all the mods. So worth it.

My final tally was 17 games for €130, with an average cost of €7,22 per game and including 6 recent big releases, 5 older games bought on the cheap and 6 indie titles. Good mix, good value: I'm a very happy camper.

#611 Edited by maskedarcstrike (701 posts) -

Welp, at least the flash deals ended with a good deal on Retro City Rampage. Better than nothing I guess.

edit: It was a good run guys!! See ya for the fall sale.

So, that's all the sales. Bummer, I missed Penny Arcade for 75% off - I mean, I don't particularly want to play it (I didn't particularly like the third one), but I want to finish off the series...

If you really didn't enjoy the 3rd one, then don't buy the 4th one?

The battle system is very much the same idea as in the 3rd one, with showing the turn order on that top bar in the battle screen. The class system is gone, but there is a different system in place that is comparable (as far as allowing you to confer different stats and abilities to different party members depending on what role you want to emphasize). There are more party members available to choose from this time, though still only maximum 4 per battle.

I had a pretty good time with them, but then I liked the battles and character flexibility in Episodes 3 and 4 (it felt more interesting than the fairly linear character growth in the first 2 episodes). If you just want to know how the story concludes, Tycho actually wrote up a synopsis of Episodes 3 and 4, back when it looked like they were canned for good (before they talked with Zeboyd about making them). It's somewhere on the Penny Arcade site if you Google for it.

No SSF4AE big sale? That really bums me out. Still going to have to pick it up though, just a question of if I want all of the DLC costumes or not. SSF4AE aside... I may have gone a bit crazy this time, let's see what all I can tally up

  • Bioshock Infinite
  • Skyrim
  • Dark Souls
  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution
  • Dishonored
  • Dungeons of Dreadmor (
  • Gyromancer
  • Might & Magic Heroes 6 (I forget, but I want to say 10$, maybe 15$)
  • Mirror's Edge (Also forget but I think it was around 5$)
  • Monaco
  • Orcs Must Die
  • Orcs Must Die 2
  • Portal 2
  • Rayman Origins
  • Sang-Froid - Tales of Werewolves
  • System Shock 2
  • Torchlight 2
  • Trials Evolution Gold Edition
  • X-Com

I almost feel a little gross about having bought all of that, because I know I spent much more than I should have. I guess this is what happens when you're unemployed for a few years and then a summer sale rolls around when you finally have a job and money again, you got a little crazy. I'll probably even poke around the store a bit longer and see if there's anything I may want to pick up. Shogun Total War 2 being up again, I may have to buy that. And I'll buy some version of SSF4AE still. I'd buy Chivalry if not for the fact that during the free weekend they had awhile back the game wouldn't even load for me, so, I know it's a broken game (for my pc) and I never could find a fix for it.

Edit: The total comes to...167.86$ Not including Possibly Shogun and Street Fighter. Which.. I think could put me up to just shy of 200$ spent.

Is there any way to see the actual results of the community polls? As in, percentages?

#617 Posted by The_Laughing_Man (13629 posts) -

System Shock 2.

TorchLight 2.

Thats it...

#618 Posted by Brake (1105 posts) -

@mostman: You saw them for a very short amount of time between when the polls closed and the community choice went up. I think it was like 30 minutes or something. In retrospect? Probably not.

#619 Edited by mostman (251 posts) -

@brake: Ahh... I wasn't paying attention. I wonder if the results are posted somewhere. For some reason, I have a desire to navigate the depths of human stupidity and group think. :)

@mostman: When Dragon's Lair beat KR0, even the 3rd choice beat it. It was 35%, 33%, 32%.

Which is actually a fairly even split.

As much as we blame KR0 for not having a clear title, I imagine just not quite enough people have heard of it. Though yeah, it would probably help a little bit if the game had an actual title with words, instead of "KY 0", which fits the highway theme but if you don't already know what it means might confuse some people. The "KY 0" would serve as a good logo to put in like, any place on Steam where your game needs a square icon or logo, but in any slot that is rectangular, that game could really use a title with actual words.

Ended up with more games than I needed but not as many as I thought I'd buy. I now have 108 games on Steam and have only played about 10 of them :/ Oh and I just started on DOTA 2 so who knows if I'll ever get to the new games I bought
